Wow that’s awful I’ve overpaid to get rid of contracts on here to make a point but yeah those I put out these are over pays but not on a young Number 1c

It seems like the Leafs win both trades to me. Columbus would probably want a top player or prospect coming back from Toronto. If not, they could just trade him to one of the other 29 teams in the league.

Toronto doesn't win the New York trade. They essentially fleeced the Jackets, only to bring in a more expensive third-liner and third-pairing defenseman.

I think Deangelo's better than a 3rd pair guy but you could make the argument that this doesn't make sense for the Leafs because of cap. They'd still end up with a much better return than they gave to Columbus.

Alright, so some assets just aren’t worth anything in the context of a certain trade. Third round pick for a rental number 6 d man? That’s worth something. Third rounder when you’re talking about PLD? It’s nothing.
Mikheyev and a first does not get PLD. That offer is really short (and that’s basically what it is. The rest of the trade is junk).

Then toronto gets beat down on the rangers trade. Deangelo and strome stink.
