Nylander isnt worth that to ANA, Rakell gets moved for futures they keep Steel/Comtois. one of them only get moved for a 1C like PLD not a winger

Aside from ANA saying no to this, you traded Nylander (I'm assuming) to obtain Steel/Comtois primarily, then didn't sign them.

No way in hell would i want to give Binnington 7.5M for any contract length.

bigger question for Ducks fans, what about a Nylander + Woll/Scott (+ aux. pcs) for Gibson (and aux. pcs) ?

Nylander can be the offensive replacement to Getz/Rakell; Leafs need a long term G (at a great $); Ducks could UFA a bridge goalie (or have the $$ for Binnington/anderson), and then have a young goalie in the system (if they don't already?)

Would need to be very significant add ontop of Nylander to get Gibson, Ducks have less than no reason to even consider moving him. Woll/Scott are of essentially zero value

Leafs have Campbell and a slew of options for a backup or 1a/1b nylander stays.

Gibby would be a particularly expensive goalie to acquire honestly maybe even more than other top 5 goalies. Gibby is a goalie who on any other team would perennially be in Vezina contention, he is young, and he is locked up for 7 year for less than 7 mill, even to other comparable goalies are typically getting pains ~10 mil. Also this trade comes in much different circumstances than the Andersen trade, as ANA has no need to trade him and thus has the upper hand in negotiations. With this in mind I wouldn’t be necessarily be surprised if the deal was Nylander, a 1st, and a decent prospect like Niemela. Of course it’s a goalie trade so who the hell really knows, but just considering ANAs situation, his youth and his cheap cap hit, it would probably be expensive, he is literally our only elite player rn.
