Description
I don't think this year will be a giant Fire Sale for any team. This year is a bit different. There are still NHL vets our there looking to make money this year. I don't think we're getting too many buyers for Janmark. Large Cap hit and other teams will look in other places. Guys are still signing contracts and there are still vets out there looking for a salary. That doesn't mean trades can't have value, but I don't think we'll see AS MANY Simmonds/Cousins/Marleau/Thompson trades this time around. Yes, of course some...not as many.

The Vegas trade - Vegas NEEDS another center. Their PP is abysmal and AP isn't helping it. I've watch them play this year and they're REALLY bad as a PP unit. Their sole focus is snipes from distance. There's no crashing the net. There's no one behind the goal line setting up High Danger Slot Snipes....like a Getzlaf-Perry...Scheifele-Laine...Toews-Kubalik. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H98UsHssJ4M Time 4:40...this is what Vegas is missing. Vegas had a 5 on 3 last night and their Dmen REFUSED to move closer. Shea and AP stayed out at the corners! Great 5 on 5 team...truly atrocious PP unit.

Carl Sodeberg. Trade doesn't have to be TOR. I think they want to win bad. I think he fits what they need too. Makes sense to me, but the target isn't as important.

Who I draft...way too early
I have zero clue who is going to win the lottery. The Hawks will pick the best Dman available.
Pick #27 - Roman Schmidt - I know...I know. Probably won't be there. It's too early to tell, but the Hawks really need a #1 Dman and preferably one with a little size. Can't understate that point.
Pick #35ish - Cole Huckins
Pick #40ish - Brett Harrison

Additional Details:
Vegas NEEDS another center if they want to be taken seriously. it's nice to have Pietrangelo, but Vegas didn't need a better defenseman. Vegas NEEDS another center. They're still 0% for the season on the PP. It was a big problem last year and looks to still be a big problem.

I don't think Strome would fit well in Vegas at all. They probably wouldn't want him tbh. I think they'd rather make a big play for Toews rather than take Strome.

Vegas needed to sit Cody Glass last night in order to have 6 dmen on the ice. They can't afford Toews.

I don’t know this still holds true, but I don’t think Vegas is too concerned about the cap anymore. As for the center need, this trade certainly makes sense. Now, mix those two things together, I have a feeling the hawks won’t get nearly that great of a return for strome. I can see MAF and maybe a 1st or a 2nd and prospect, but maybe not all of that. I’d be interested to see if Vegas is calling Columbus daily to try and get a deal done for Dubois. That’s definitely the golden goose right now.

I was thinking Cormier might be too much. IDK... 3rd rounder, but playing well. I hear ya. As far as the cap goes. Vegas needed to send Cody Glass to the taxi squad just so Hague could fit under the cap. True Story. So NEXT YEAR's cap might be different, but during this year they'll have to play a lot of gymnastics just to work with what they have let alone actually acquire another center.

Yea, that is completely fair. It’s a tough look and it might hamstring them in the long run despite an undefeated start. I feel like they may wait to do anything too crazy till the expansion draft.

Sure, but they can find someone other than Strome pretty easily. I didn't mean to imply that a Toews trade would happen right now, but rather somewhere down the line.

Seems like a reasonable price if the leafs are in need.

I hear ya. I just don't know who they could get and have it work definitely better than this...AND works within their difficult cap situation. Vegas Needs an offensive centerman. William Karlsson is a really good 2-way center. He even got some Selke love last year. They need a PP center and one that can score. That is Strome. He's a .83ppg player as a Hawks Centerman. I can go into the details if you want, but that's a true stat. (Summary is...2nd dumbest move I've ever seen CHI make in my life behind pretending Kane was a center in 2011 was what happened last year with Strome thinking he's a winger.) People love to make fun of Strome's skating and he's NOT Barzal on the ice. But he can score and has been doing it for a few years now.

This is interesting for sure, but should the Hawks do this not knowing medically what is going on with Toews? Being without a 1C and 2C is a dangerous proposition long term. Strome right now is insurance policy for Toews. With a healthy Toews, this obviously makes a lot more sense.

Very Fair. I don't truly know what's going on with the Toews situation.

Bowman was quoted last week as not knowing exactly what is going on and spoke that Toews has asked for privacy and he deserves that so unfortunately, I don't think anyone knows what's going on with him but hoping it's not a chronic situation.

I think one of Zadorov or Murphy are much more likley to get traded for expansion reasons over Strome. I really can't see him being traded honestly.
