This seems like a steep price, but goaltending is arguably the most important position in hockey. And with losing Graves the avs have the depth to replace him, especially considering he has already gotten a decreased role this year, and now Timmins can get full time in the lineup.

Kuemper on the other hand is a great goalie and I would love to have a number one amazing goalie. Grubauer is good but there are definitely better goalies out there, and imo Kuemper is one of them.

Grubauer is a decent goalie, good even
But Kuemper could be the missing piece to a Cup win for u guys
He’s pretty great on a crappy team
Imagine him with your lineup in front of him!

also the awful message it sends to the rest of the team...2 goalies that have not at all played poorly, one in a well liked starter in grubeaur demoted to back up and a very well liked back up in Frankie sent on the waiver wire to be on the taxi squad

Optics matter and this is the kind of stuff that bothers a locker room, big goalie trades for starters never happen in season for a cup team, its a different story if they are playing poorly, but they aren't. Until then its just asking to be a powder keg

Kuemper is the level of guy that ANYONE who cares about winning will welcome with open arms

The only way it splits the locker room is if Kuemper comes in & starts playing like crap
But that’s the chance u take any time u try to upgrade a position

if any team should be advocate for Kuemper its your the sabres. Unless they are swapping Grubi for him straight up it makes 0 sense bc why would you block a guy from playing when they have to make a decision if they are signing him to an extension or not.

You dont do this move if you are planning on keeping Grubi or considering it. Its a mess of an idea and why teams never do that move in season especially cup teams.

You should know, last time that happened was Miller to the Blues and they made him the starter and that blew up in their face

1- I’d love Kuemper, but this isn’t a Kuemper to Buffalo post
2- the reason u keep Grubauer too, is just in case it doesn’t work
3- Vegas just essentially did this last year by trading for Lehner while still having Fleury

Goaltending is pretty damn important
If u get a chance to go from an average-ish goalie like Grubauer, to a legit top10 goalie like Kuemper.....
then u guys should absolutely do that imo
Kuemper is really, really good
And would be even better with a good team in front of him instead of a crap one

Vegas replaced Lehner with Fluery bc Fluery was bad, look at his stats last year and look at how much drama it caused
Grubauer is playing well, so that just proves the point of why you dont do it. It creates nonsense and story lines the team has to deal with

Grubauer + pick/prospect for Kuemper might make sense in basically a goalie upgrade but otherwise the Avs would and should stand pat.

Kuemper is still a major upgrade over Grubauer
