Roslovic for RHD prospect

Created by: jimmyjets
Team: 2020-21 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 19, 2021

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Swap Roslovic's rights for a former late 1st round pick in Bernard-Docker. As he attends UND I assume that the Jets would have a lot of viewings and Ottawa has higher drafter first round picks in Thomson and Brannstrom to play the right side to Chabot and Sanderson long term. I would take either Thomson or Brannstrom instead of JBD if the Sens preferred.

The risk is that Bernard-Docker needs a contract and must be signed by August 2022 or he becomes a UFA and the Jets get nothing.

As Ottawa has 3 high end RHD prospects and 2 elite LHD they are an interesting trade target for me as I'd like to build our RHD and C prospect pool.

JBD is our only decent RHD prospect, youd probably have better luck from another team

I’d love JBD on the jets. However, Ottawa is my second favourite team and from what I know, he is very much in their long term plans. Honestly, probably more so than brannstrom and thompson. Probably best looking elsewhere.

Maybe Dobson? Somehow idk. Plssss chevy lol

Severely undervaluing what JBD brings imo. He's going to be a really important defensive player for Ottawa, and he's probably already NHL ready.

Roslovic is a bottom six forward, and Ottawa is pretty flushed with those. Not a good fit imo.

This makes some sense, but the UND defenceman is probably not going anywhere. I’m not sure which of Brannstrom or Thomson I would swap in, as they are both well regarded D. Brannstrom is further along, but Thomson is only a year or so behind. Neither are big, but Thomson is bigger. Brannstrom prefers the right side but is a left shot, Thomson is a natural right hand shot playing the right side. I’d leave the choice between Brannstrom or Thomson to you. The trade would be, as they say, one for one.

id do it for thomson but JBD definitely is more projectable for a top 4 NHL role right now

I didn't mean to say that trading Thomson would be a deal for the Jets, I was just saying he's another quality RD prospect

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I appreciate that everyone kept it civil. As I said in the posting I'd do Roslovic for any of the 3. I thought JBD was the least well regarded of the 3 based on nothing but draft position. That combined with the fact that if he doesn't sign this summer and goes back, he's a risk to Adam Fox his way to his desired situation/location. I would do Roslovic for Thomson or Brannstrom. I get that Brannstrom is small, but he's the highest rated RD of the bunch on every article/site that I've seen.

Anyhow, I'll have Chevy set it up.
