I’m gonna have to disagree with you there. Rust is really good imo and this isn’t something the pens should do unless they think rust’s season last year was a fluke. The get worse now with marginally getting better long term imo. Not worth it for them

From the jets, yes please. Rust can be the perfect 7th forward for the jets and would help the pk (I think he’s a pker right?)

While I wouldn`t be TOO surprised if GMJR moved Rust I highly doubt he moves him in this deal. Rust is the much better player.

He is not overpaid at all. 3.5 for a guy that scored 27 goals last year going for 30+ if the season was complete. Yeah he was playing with Sid but Rust is the one burying them in the back of the net. He had over a point per game last year as well with 56 points in 55 GP. Crosby is there for rust but if you look at the last 5 years before last year, he has really grown as a player. If he would have finished his season he would've gotten around 70-80 points. he had a 1.01 points per game average and if you multiply that by the 27 games he missed he would've gotten (if not been close to) 83 points (probably a little less). So don't say he's overpaid. Yes he is playing with Crosby, but before last year he was too and couldn't even get 20 goals. That tells you that Rust has grown and is gonna be a Pen for a while (Hopefully)

Name other forwards who make 3-4 million with term that are a better value than Rust? In that tier of 3-4 million AAV contracts hes among the best. And where do you get the notion that pens were trading him for a 5th? That’s a complete lie. Oilers offered Jesse Pulv for Rust and pens declined (rumoured) during the 2019 offseason. He was never being dumped

That’s like saying Scheifele is a 3C cause he’d be a 3C on Pittsburgh. I agree jets don’t need anymore wingers, they are loaded in their top 6, but rust isn’t a 3rd line winger

Sorry, I should have stated my case. I like Rust and he is a good player but paying him 3.5M to play on the 3rd line is a waste as we need that money elsewhere. Now if there was a third team in the mix to take him and the Jets get something else, then by all means lets do it
