Description
Tried to help teams while upgrading picks. Let me know if value is off I will consider adjusting.

Edmonton had no second or 3rd in 2021 so they get 1 in each round for a 22 second.
Ottawa had no 4th or 5th in 21 so I targeted a 3rd in 22. Maybe I should have stuck with a 4th but we need to get some value back.
Pittsburg no 3rd or 4th in 21 so target was 22 3rd
Vancouver no 22 3rd so traded Ottawa's high 3rd and Pittsburgh's mid to late 3rd for Vancouver's late 2nd.
Ava no 22 2nd so traded 2 mid 2nds for late 1st (wasn't sure if this made sense or not value wise)
Reason for trades was our prospect pool is already deep and we are getting close to max contracts and reserve list players so we free up some of our picks to help other teams who are short on picks while at the same time we move up in the 22 draft.

in the past 10 years it might have happened what 3 times.....that isn't every, and that still doesn't mean it was a good trade.

Look at post 17. It happens every year.

It's well and good to list those trades like that, but what you're forgetting is that all those trades were made based on specific circumstances where a GM/scouts were targeting a specific player who they moved up for. You won't find teams trading draft picks like this outside of draft day because they would only make trades like this based on who is available at the other picks they're receiving. In short, it's extremely hypothetical to the point that it's not really worth fantasising about. Trades involving players are far more tangible.

Read the title again! These are draft day trades

Draft day trades are situational. Just because you added that the trade happens on draft day, doesn’t make this trade scenario happen on draft day. You’re proposing these trades today, which isn’t draft day. How can you predict the draft day situation today? You can’t. None of these trades make sense.

That's only your wishful thinking. When was the last time Ken Holland traded a 1st for a goalie or drafted a goalie in the first round? It's not in his DNA.

Ken holland would trade a first for a goalie if it was a good goalie. I think it will be tough to get one on free agency because of the reputation of having terrible defence in Edmonton. Ken holland also would take this years 1st rounder and trade down for an early second and late third. Then if he can select a goalie with that second that’s what he will do. If not he’ll probably trade down again. I’m only saying they will pick a goalie because Sebastian Cossa the Edmonton Oil kings all star goalie is slated to go mid second round.

I could see Holland trading the 1st for later 1st and a 2nd and then using that 2nd to select a goalie, but that isn't the same thing as picking a goalie in the 1st round or trading a 1st for a goalie.

A perfectly competent goalie like Raanta will be available in free agency for a reasonable rate. Guys like Elliot, Andersen, Rinne, Dubnyk, Grubauer, Halak, Driedger and Reimer may also be available and likely can play 1A/1B effectively, and if you want to go all-in on a starter maybe Binnington makes it to free agency.

I’m dead set against Raanta. He’s ok during the regular season but he’s a terrible playoff goalie. He also only plays about 35 games per year. He’s Mikko koskinen’s equivalent in my eyes. Grubauer and Freddy might be something but the rest are mike smith level goalies and there is no guarantee they make it to free agency either.
