I don’t see him as a all star level guy. He’s okay, but he is a hockey room cancer so I’ve heard, we have Bouchard coming up, he’s not the best at defence. I don’t like him.

The defence part is an issue I won't lie but the locker room stuff was from the start of his career in boston it seems like hes matured since then with other teams.

I’m just not a fan from those reasons. We need a guy that’s good at defence. I rather wait, and go for Parayko, or Jones honestly.

I just feel like we should be in a win now scenario. Lets say this year we keep playing like we already are and take a step back to where we were in 2017-2018. Then we dont do anything in the offseason and have another bad year. I feel like by then if that happens and star like mcdavid or drai will get tired of loosing and want out bad.

Yeah we wouldn't be a contender currently but once guys like broberg and bouchard can become all star level guys maybe I would say with this roster we are. Also this is only if hamilton hits the market which I dont expect him to.

Dougie said he wants to stay in Carolina, which makes me think he won't. I also still wouldn't buy EDM as a contender. Not until that goaltending is sorted. You're in the same boat as Carolina when those defenseman develop. You just need a goalie.

What makes you guys think he's bad at defense? Parayko is better, sure, but Jones is far far worse and Hamilton is in the 88th percentile for all situations defense, that's insanely good. Here's a comparison of their player cards

For the record, the best guy the Oilers have at defense right now is Klefbom, and he's only in the 50th percentile. Hamilton would be an immediate upgrade defensively in a major way even if he's not the best available defensive defenseman that will be available over the next three or so years. Even if you could get Parayko or Jones, why would you wait an extra year and burn another year of prime McDavid and Draisaitl rolling with the defense you currently have?

I don't think Hamilton is moving but don't galaxy brain yourself out of pursuing an obviously elite player because he's a "locker room cancer" or he's "bad at defense" when it's pretty clear neither of those things are true. If it was true the Canes wouldn't be trying so hard to keep him, especially considering their defensive depth.

He is very bad at defence, and Jones is very underrated. I don’t like him, and I think he’s bad. That’s just my opinion.

It’s not false. Not even close. He’s not very good at defence. I wouldn’t trust him defensively, and on the PK. PP, and offence is his strong suit, while defence isn’t.

Sure, and that's fine I guess, except that you're not giving any reasons as to why you think that. From what I can understand you just decided that was the case and then went with it. I am asking what makes you think one is bad at defense and one is good? Opinions are worthless without anything supporting them.

And Jones is certainly not underrated anymore, everyone has been (wrongly) putting him as like a top defenseman in the league for a bit now. He was #5 on the most recent NHL.com best defensemen list, which is stupid. He's not even the best defenseman on that team.
