If I am MTL, I say yes. The fact you retained salary helps. I would then trade Armia, move Toffoli to right side and put Pearson on Left.

I would strongly consider that tbh. What would have to be included to remove the retention?

Nothing...we just don't have the cap space...unless we find a third team to take the hit

I think that if we have a significant injury at forward the habs do it. If we don’t, then our forward depth is good enough as is, especially with Perry as the 13th forward.

I'd rather take back a small contract, but the Jets don't really have one to move. If we retained 500k I would definitely be a lot closer to saying yes.

Myers (500k retained) for Poolman + 3rd + 6th. How do u feel about this?

Fair enough, we'd have to wait a bit and see what happens I guess. I really like the base of the trade though.

Edmonton declines. Your take is rather charitable, too: "Edmonton get's a veteran center who can play in the bottom 6 and win faceoffs." Let's break it down:

"a veteran center" - Sutter will be 32 years old at the deadline and have played about 750 NHL games. Check.

"who can play in the bottom 6" - over the past 2+ seasons Sutter carries a 40.00 GF% and a 42.47 xGF% while playing 11:35 per game at 5v5. Those are certainly bottom-6 numbers - and none of them are good. Check.

"and win faceoffs" - Over the past 2+ seasons he's gone from 17.8 faceoffs/game to 8.6 to 4.0 this year - seems his coaches have little confidence in his faceoff abilities. However, he has won 416 faceoffs in 856 tries in that timeframe for a 48.6% win rate. Check.

Jokes aside, he sucks and he's overpaid. Nobody is giving you a 4th for him - even with 50% retained.
