Yeah like Pierre-Luc Dubois is signing the exact same contract, And both Seth Jones and Zach Werenski get far more money then that. If that's all Jarmo gives them then both are walking to free agency. both Jones and Werenski will easily command between $9 million to $10 million per season long term.

It really is hard to say what is motivating (or lack thereof) Dubois.
He has looked (on the ice, especially after a goal or a quick shot of him on the bench) for a couple years now like he just doesn't want to be here
I think deep down he just can't stand Torts.
He also was probably a bit bummed that Panarin bolted in UFA.
The final 2 straws were: Torts berating him on the bench in the Toronto series for like 20 seconds (on camera) last August (2020), and
Jarmo bringing in Domi and giving him $5.3M x 2 years and only giving Dubois (the home drafted talent who hasn't even missed a stinking game yet in 3 years) $5.0M x 2 years.

Oh, and then not to mention Torts airing the team's dirty laundry in the media a week or so ago:
("yeah, he ((Dubois)) wants out, he hasn't told us why, so we'll just deal with it and spend the time focusing on the players who do want to be here").
This is total crap on Tort's part. Keep the locker room stuff in the locker room. No need to air this stuff out to the reporters several days before the season starts.
Now that John Davidson is gone, I almost wish they would dump Jarmo & Torts and start anew.

At the very least, Jarmo better find the best package to send Dubois to in the WESTERN CONFERENCE.
You watch, he will probably send him to NYR or Florida due to the Davidson or Bill Zito connection, but that will only come back to haunt the CBJ for many years to come.

Well I signed the same contract so the trade could work and it represents Dubois' current contract

If he has two solid seasons this year and next, I could see him getting $7.5Mx6 or close to it.

I agree but the contract I gave him is based on what he has right now because I see them trading Dubois this year.
