Laughton and a 2nd is far from "nothing" value. I could see them adding a little bit more but Murphy isn't exactly the type of player who can demand a huge return

hawks should be able to get just a little less than waht TOR paid for Muzzin. Muzzin is a little better but Murphy is cheaper, you're asking for retention here, and he plays the right side which is a big deal. Value is also added in that he has term on his contract

Us Hawks fans know a bit about this. He's actually not bad in transition and has an offensive game, but he can't play defense....which is kinda his job.

If that's what it's gonna take to get Murphy I'd rather consider packing a decent prospect/prospects and some picks for Savard

I originally wrote him up as "not a strong defensive player who makes a bad turnover on occasion". What I was not expecting is at least 5 or more horrible turnovers every single game. He's done well in the Powerplay and has made a couple of nice outlet passes, but the bad is far more noticeable than the good

Don't mind the move at all. I'd have trouble paying some of the counter proposals though. Not saying any of them are wrong in valuation, just a tough sell with expansion looming. I know you have to trade something of value to get a player, but it could handicap us quite a bit in terms of assets by acquiring Murphy, who we'd likely lose in the expansion under this scenario. The move we need to find is a player on a 1 year deal. Savard if the Blue Jackets are willing to deal makes sense. He isn't a 1st line defender, but he at least can fill in momentarily and they figure out the rest moving forward. I think thats why he's been the most common trade candidate for us since before the season started even.
