That'll be an easy no for WPG.

Easier no from Toronto.

Nylander's contract doesn't expire as early as Laine's does and he'll want over $10M. Plus Nylander has been a much better play driver and entry guy. For only $6.9M a season, Toronto's way better off keeping Nylander.

Laine might want 10 but he isnt going to get it IMO. Not with the flat cap and uncertainty of the league going forward. The only way I see him getting 10 is with SEA.
That's kinda what I think is the best option for the jets. Have Laine play great hockey and trade him to SEA after the expansion draft where they have a whack of assets. Laine becomes the face of the franchise

I find it funny how so many people quote $10 mil plus as if there has actually been reports of his ask somewhere. It's just an attempt to devalue Laine and try to pull much lesser players like Nylander closer to Laine in value.

His ask was over $10M on a long term deal last time he had contract talks. With his improved performance, why would he ask for less? It's not his problem to pay him.

As I said about the difference in Nylander, it's more so about puck possession, driving play, and zone entries. All of which Nylander is better at. & he still scores 30 goals a season. Why lose all of that for maybe 5-10 more goals? ... but I guess you missed all of that when you tried to justify that Laine is worth more.

There is no credible source of Laine's contract asks at any time. It is all stuff made up on message boards by posters such as yourself. Aside from that Laine is just far better at a younger age than Nylander. Compared at the same age Nylander isn't anywhere close to Laine.

Goal scoring Laine is better. But all around game? Pick possession? Driving play? Zone entries? Playmaking ability? .. it's not even close. Hockey isn't all about goals getting scored. There's a lot more to it.

Yes. At 22 Laine is light years ahead of where Nylander was at 22. Playmaking, physicality, fine entries, puck possession. You name it, Laine is better.
