I like the idea of Compher in DET but the 2nd will almost be a 1st. DET declines

I'm not high on Compher for free, let alone giving up a pick... he's redundant to half our roster. We don't need depth players, we have those in spades, we need impact players.

Maybe the lower of one of the Oilers or rangers 2nds or maybe a 3rd+4th would work?

I don't think it would be wise for Detroit to give up a high draft pick at this stage in their rebuild. Maybe in a couple years since our rebuild seems to be further ahead than we thought but we're also only 4 games into the season.

Compher very well might get traded, and I’d love if we could get a 2nd for him, but I just don’t see it. He doesn’t have that value anymore. Maybe a third is more reasonable

Yeah the flat cap has really made a dent in the valuations of middle/bottom 6 forwards so you're probably right.

Good suggestion. I was gonna suggest the lowest of the 2nd rounders as well as a counter-proposal.

Yeah No, Since when is a 3rd liner worth basically a late 1st round pick? Detroit already has tons of 3rd liners no need for Compher.

Yeah I think a second, especially high one would be a steal at this point much as I like JT. The two Vegas picks might work as value. 3rd and 4th spread across two years.

Certainly wouldn't be opposed to the Avs looking at Cizikas/Tierney for example with Compher as part of it, though I'd prefer it to be Donskoi. I reckon a Calvert/Cizikas/Compher line could be an absolute annoyance to play against.

With so many teams wanting to shed cap, Detroit is in the enviable position of picking up cap bargains without having too give up much as all. The 35th overall is too much for Compher.

You're probably right. Perhaps a later 2nd or 3rd+ might be more suitable.

Compher doesn't do much for me. He would be an up grade over several of Detroit's bottom 6 but it isn't really a luxury Detroit can afford right now. They have too many holes that need to be filled first.

I agree but Yzerman hasn't really taken on any cap dumps. Staal would be the closest he has come to taking on a cap dump. When Yzerman traded for Staal Detroit really needed a another LHD. I have no idea if he will take on any cap dumps but you are right it is wasted space.
