Hate when teams do 7 D 11 Forwards. Scratch Bogo for a game if you want to see a Dermott Lehtonen pairing.

the injury to Thornton might be the best thing to happen to the leafs offense all year.

if they dont trust anyone else to kill penalties it makes sense. better to play someone on the backend in a place of weakness over a forward that will only really get 5 minutes. They give those minutes to the big 4 anyways so it works out.

I know but you could use the same logic the other way. All this does is take minutes away from the top 4 d or else you have 3 d guys playing 6-8 minutes each. Rather have another forward.

Simmonds on waivers is a bad idea. Big no no. Switch him and Anderson, doubt he'd clear waivers.

The Leafs' don't care if they develop Sandin.

I don't see the Leafs' keeping up the 7D lineup. Bogo will stay in. Dermott will probably start getting scratched as the Leafs' are terrified of losing their pipeline of free wallet fantasy Ds who always turn out to be replacement level or worse.

That's definitely true but at some point they reach a limit with with how many minutes a team can give a player. The leafs top 4 d are already playing a ton and Dermott/Lehtonen arent getting enough. Bogo isnt that good at all really but at least he is an ok penalty killer, the leafs dont have anyone else really who can do that.

When they reach a limit with the big 4 forwards, there are 7 others to step up. I like dressing 7 d but I dont think Bogo is the right guy to be a 7th, if they found someone better suited it would look a lot better imo

I just know from playing in hockey games where there are 7 dmen dressed it sucks. That's not enough ice time as a dman to get into the game.

He could say the same thing as spezza did but honestly Simmonds is so bad. They should be giving other people looks at this point

I respect that. it is tough and I've been in the same situation but the same could be said for a forward who only gets 5 minutes a game like Barabanov was. Its tougher for a defenseman given the roles they play imo but it's tough on both positions

True but Keefe should just spread the forward minutes better IMO. Let Matthews and Marner play the entire 2 minute pp to get their time up. Marner averaging 25 a night right now is ridiculous. 21-23 is maxed for a forward to be productive IMO.

Not at all, Inlikevwhat Simmonds has been doing. Put vesey on waivers. Simmer on the 3rd line with Engvall and kerfoot and let’s go!!

I bet this lineup (with Simmonds in an d vesey hurdling towards the sun) puts up better offence.

What been so bad about him? He's been a tough guy in the lineup that they desperately need. Why put him on waivers?

Hes been killed out there. He doesn't have the speed to keep up anymore which really sucks. He doesn't really bring anything offensively anymore besides causing chaos infront of the net. At 5v5 they havent done much offensively with him out there and got **** on in their own end. Hes not suitable for pp1 especially when they have JT and Nylander

Besides that 1 fight in Montreal I havent nothing Simmonds be that dominant physically. I dont hate Vesey but hes not ideal in the top 6, hes been better then Simmonds though. Over the past 3 seasons Vesey has outscored Simmonds while getting less pp time and playing quite a bit with weaker linemates I believe

Well, I think he'd have to be very bad to be put on waivers, as he's payed 1.5 mil. It's not at that point yet.

Simmonds>>>>>vesey. Vesey’s stick is where plays go to die. Simmonds has been moving things forward. I mean he buries that shot that went off the post last night and we aren’t even having this conversation. He is far better in the top 6 than vesey. But I think 3rd line minutes would be perfect for him. I’m also expecting some gloves to hit the ice next game early. I would also bet the farm that he is a far better presence off the ice than vesey.

It’s all just temporary from what I saw from Robertson. Get him in the top 6 and burn a year off his elc. The kid’s got jam.

Robertson is fantastic but Vesey has a far better scoring touch compared to Simmonds. Robertson would be in the top 6 if he was healthy though

Better scoring touch? He has done jack **** besides hit two wide open nets from Willy. I will say he looked slightly better tonight. On par with Brooks at best. He is still one of the weakest players on the team.

Pros- Good hand eye. Knocks down a lot of pucks. Good on pk.

Cons... falls down a lot, turns scoring opportunities into odd man rushes the other way. Not good at hockey.
