With you assuming no extension I would say don't do it. Loses to many future pieces and Barkov doesn't fit Ottawa's cup window at all IMO unless he extends.

Well I doubt any team gives up a significant piece without an extension. Brannstrom and Pinto are solid pieces and way better than any piece Ottawa got in a return for Karlsson at the time

I can't see this team winning a cup this year or next tho. Defense needs a major overhaul and most of the core pieces are just barely entering their prime over the next year or two. Ottawa will be really good but not this year or next. I see them similar to where the Leafs were the year they had all their rookies and squeaked into the playoffs. It's just a year or two early for something like this IMO
