Probably fair but idk. Hertl is such an important player for the sharks and he likely sticks around long term so replacing him isnt super needed

I'd rather send out Couture for Dubois. Hertl seems to drive his line. Couture, not so much. Maybe Sharks can get a prospect or Jenner in that deal. Also, sending a center for a center doesn't really help the team much. Sharks find themselves in the same bad situation they are in whether it Dubois replaces Hertl or Couture.

Struck me as a lateral move honestly. Short of getting slightly younger..... what's the point?

Just going thru each team to gauge possibilities

I think PLD is looking for a bigger hockey market so I think that puts San Jose out. IMO Hertl for PLD is a pretty fair trade since PLD is the one who wants out. Not sure Hertl fits what Columbus does well, but he is a great player so he likely finds a way to fit.
One person commented that they would rather trade Couture, which all Sharks fan would but Jackets wouldn't have interest in a 31 year old center on the back side of his career with too long of term and 8 million AAV.

How does everyone think this is fair?

Dubois is 22 years old who has been as good as a 26/27 year old Hertl and PLD shows so much more upside...

Adjusted to 82 game schedules Dubois in his first 3 seasons put up 48/61/57 compared to Hertl who put up 31/46/37 (ignoring his first season where he only played 37 games). Hertl has also only ever surpassed 50 points 1 time where he put up 77 in '18-'19... I know he has been on pace for 60+ points a few times but that also shows that he is injury prone and possibly cant handle the full work load over a 82 game schedule. Plus, if you look at the history of player development, 27 is the age where players peak and start to decline (and even this is shifting to be younger in the last 5-10 years)...

Dubois has the potential to be a 80 point guy regularly. It would take Hertl ++ to get him from CBJ at this point imo.

Because we have actually watched Hertl play and we dont just look at raw point outputs. Hes tied for first in points this year btw
