It’s probably nothing. I don’t see them trading Matthews.

I mean Matthews won’t get traded but in terms of value...

A franchise 1C for:

A 1C and Elite D.

(Holl and Jenner cancel each other out)

Gotta think that’s not the worst offer in the world for him

Sure but until dubios starts having near 50 goal season then the trade would be worthwhile

You’ve got that backwards. Matthews is the franchise 1c LOL

Top 4 D and a franchise center for a better Dman and a worse center just isn’t going to fly.

Holl>>>>Jenner.

I said Matthews was the franchise C. Holl also isn’t a true top 4 D man. He’s carried by Muzzin. A 3rd liner = fringe 4 / 5D.

The trade is:
A franchise C (Matthews) for: a good 1C (PLD) and an elite D (Jones)

Neither team makes this deal, but in a vacuum it looks fine

Absolute horse****.. he’s been carrying Muzzin. Not sure when Holl is going to get the respect he has earned the hard way.

It’s been 3 games pipe down. Last year all the stats prove he was nothing away from Muzzin. Some fans overrate him, then there are leafs haters who say he’s an extra D. In reality, he’s a fine #4/5 when paired with a D as good as muzzin.

Actually it’s been 5 games and 60 some odd games of it last year... and his first 2 games were a fluke. The 11 games where he was just okay and tentative.

The guy was just never given a shot. When he was he took the chance and flew with it. He doesn’t get a kick off power play time and I certainly don’t expect him to put up 50 points this year. But he is a solid top 4 Dman who put in a lot of time training this season and it has paid off.

Have you watched any leafs games this season? Because he has been our best Dman all 5 games.

Would love to see all these stats that prove how bad he was away from Muzzin.

“ There were times this year where Holl played well alongside Jake Muzzin. However, without Muzzin, Holl struggled. While Holl was still a contributor at five-on-five in shot attempts, he lacked results, as his GF%, xGF%, and HDGF% took a major hit when he wasn’t with Muzzin. He also struggled during the playoffs when Muzzin was out during the play-in round. Though, Dermott looked pretty comfortable playing top-four minutes.

Holl, however, could be a decent third-pairing defenseman. But with Mikko Lehtonen being a left shot that is comfortable on the right side, he could possibly push Holl to being the seventh defenseman. And with the way Lehtonen is playing, it’ll be tough for Holl to push himself past Lehtonen on the depth chart with his speed and puck-moving abilities.“

So an article by some tools? They had stats there.

struggled.

Justin Holl with Jake Muzzin- 5v5 Justin Holl without Jake Muzzin- 5v5
Corsi For % 52.92 51.92
Goals For % 53.85 45
Expected Goals For % 56.26 45.09
High Danger Goals For % 61.29 38.46

I mean losing Rielly and Muzzin at the same time and jumping up like that and having to play half the minutes with Martin Marincin... I wouldn’t say that dip is too bad. Didn’t even bother putting up his defensive stats because I think they were actually about the same...

Take jones away from werenski and put him with Marincin... do you think his stats stay the same?

Personally I think Dermott and Holl both played well with our two best Dmen out. This year it’s Holl that we need to stay healthy.

I think I trust their analysis over some cap friendly account called JamiePo on cap friendly. I also have watched Holl, including in the playoffs last year and he wasn’t very good. Like I said, he’s a fine 4/5 D, he’s not this bonafide top 4 guy. Hold your horses on him
