Description

Getting weird with it. IDK.

Stems from the Laine Ekblad thread Jetman had.

Not a likely trade just scoping value, thoughts?
Also not overly worried about cap implications, happens at the draft gives teams offseason to sort out cap.

Assumptions required:
1. Laine wants out.
2. FLA can't resign Barkov after his deal is up, either Cap constraints or internal budget.
3. Barkov gets 10-12 mil per on his next deal,
4. Laine would sign a 5-8 year deal with FLA
5. WPG takes the risk of assuming they can resign Barkov
6. Trade happens at draft.

No no no no no, the only reason we’d trade for Barkov is to have him as a long time C for Laine. So this is a non starter.

Alright, fellas. Look. I don't think this is likely. Just gauging Laine's value and Barkov's value against each other because they're both in the rumor mills rn. I don't need to get shredded that bad c'mon.

Barkov for Perfetti and Ehlers? Add picks if you want. That gives Winnipeg a one-two punch of Connor-Scheifele, Laine-Barkov. Obviously they still have Wheeler for however long he can stay a top 6 guy. Or swap Connor and Ehlers maaaaaybe

Laine could become a top 5 goal scorer in the entire league, Perfetti could be a 1C and a 1st. Is a huge price to pay, and I don't think Barkov is a top 5 C.

I still have this feeling a major Florida fire sale coming soon, starts with a barkov sale, and convincing Seattle to take on bobrovsky and the sale of ekblad and Huberdeau. So any deals would be for the an abundance of draftpicks or team control. Any money to be off the books in two years.

Panthers can’t resign barkov but can sign laine? Laine is asking for the world where barkov won’t especially in no tax state like Florida.
