Bergevin has offered Danault 6 years 30M ( 5M AAV ) and Danault decline !! Per Mathias Brunet on Twitter

I wouldn’t go any higner, maybe 5.3M X 5

I just wanna make sure everyone knows about this but don’t quote this again 😅

That makes sense. I would go to a bit higher than that, but it’s in the team’s best interest to wait until after the season to see where everyone stands.

If the comparable is Pageau, Danault is worth at least 500k more. Taxes and exposure to medias also need to be considered (comparing to an UFA offer).

Keep in mind 6x5M was a starting offer. Nobody expected him to agree to it without counter offering.

I would say yes to 7x 5.65M max.

Men, thats a lot of term... Id be willing to do that number but for 5 years MAX.

To summarize how good Kotkaniemi was yesterday.

Hes been really good since the start of the year imo. The stats werent there is all. Hes so good at pressuring D in the O zone its crazy. I wonder how many pucks he retrieved that way in the last two games

It brings him at 35yo. His ethics, faceoffs skills and defensive game wont go down with age, so Im ok with it. Once again, this is my absolute maximum, not the ideal situation.

It isn’t really though. He’s a year younger than Gallagher (who we signed for 6 years), and at the end of his contract he’ll be the same age as Petry is right now.

Edit: Sorry, this is about a six year term, didn’t see the 7 proposed. Although my main points still stand.

I'd say ideal is like a 3 year deal so that we have internal replacements

I think he really wants the role as 1C and that's what's holding him up. I'd have no problem paying like 6x5 because of his value to the team.

True he was good from the start. I think we just notice it more because Toffoli became more accurate and Armia woke up.

I don’t like this. Sign Bonino to a 1-2 year deal until Poehling is ready ( Bergevin always liked Bonino )

It's another way to go. Then you can extend Tatar instead. I personaly prefer a deep center line.

That would be ideal for the habs, but no chance Danault accepts that. He only has one shot at being a UFA in his prime, he isn’t going to take a short term deal unless we overpay on AAV.

#Habs Julien on absence of discipline for #Canucks Myers & fallout playing each other so soon & frequently thereafter: "This is not the first & won't be the last for these kind of things happening. Teams will deal with it the way they see fit. Go ahead & do what you have to do."

Looks like Julien just gave his guys the green light.

I can't believe the NHL is not suspending Myers for that hit - whatever happens tomorrow is 100% on the NHL player safety department.

A direct blindside head shot in a 6 - 3 game and the only punishment Myers got was he had to sit the last 3 minutes out.

Perry is definitely playing just to evolve the situation tomorrow

Looks like Byron is game time decision with Mete as his replacement, Perry is in for Armia.

Well that was a classic Corey Perry slewfoot. Good thing it didn’t cost us.

My goodness, the penalty calls in this Van-MTL series have been god awful. Very questionable calls on both sides.

it wasn't a slew foot, don't remember who but the VAN player spun around and Perry went for the hit and nudged him but since he was spinning he lost his balance. If that is a trip then that Anderson play on the wall should definitely be a trip

Well the good thing is, Habs are a little more structured defensively tonight. After a couple barn burners, I don't mind this. They need to get back to that solid D they had previously.
