Giving up Fiala for a rental+1? Pass.

Neither team does this. This is not the value of Barkov if he is resigned to his new team. So Panthers decline.

Wild decline, because they would go over the cap because of this, and the point of getting Barkov is to play him in the 1st line WITH Fiala and Kaprizov.

Would you do this deal this summer when an extension could be agreed upon in advance?

I'm not sure how that is at all close for Barkov.

I don’t agree with anything you said here. I thinks it’s fair value and I don’t think the Wild would necessarily play those 3 together anyway. Rossi and Boldy will need linemates too.

If it takes more than that to acquire Barkov, I will happily put this dream away for good!

I don't think the value is that far from being right, regardless of what others say. Let's be honest the only reason the Panthers trade Barkov is because he may not be willing to re-sign.
Also no way Bill Guerin trades away these assets without talking to Barkov's agent and making sure a long term extension could be reached. I mean I know tampering rules but there are ways around that.

I'm fine with it if there's a firm handshake deal in place that Barkov is extending but if not... It would really suck if he walked

For sure! There would definitely need to be a conversation with Barkov’s agent ahead of time. I’m sure Fla would need to know that Fiala would re-sign with them too.

I don't touch that trade from the MN side. Barkov is a rental+1 (same as Dumba), that's how they should be treated as far as value. Re-signing him or not has nothing to do with the initial trade value, it's why in years past there have been conditional picks for a player re-signing added to the trade.

His agent could promise he'll re-sign for a league min x 8 on his next deal and it means jack and squat because it can't be signed for 6 months. This isn't a trade-and-sign or sign-and-trade. It's a rental +1 and it's up to the receiving team to work out a deal or not when the time comes.

Fiala is a RFA. He doesn't have any leverage to not sign other than go to the KHL or sign an OS (at least a 1st and a 3rd are coming back for that).

Minnesota isn't trading fiala or Kaprizov. Just stop. Reason why wild are going after c's are to play with fiala and Kaprizov

If we were 100% sure Barkov would extend the first day he was able to, probably. The problem with the trade is it doesn't really help Florida depending on what they're doing next. If they rebuild, they'll want more futures and if they're retooling, who are their top 6 centers? The "value" is probably right, but it just doesn't seem like a good match for what would help Florida move forward with either path.
