Would make sense. I only suggested EK because he's a roster player and I'm under the impression Wild fans don't want to see Rossi dealt so soon.

As long as you put it that way we are in agreement. I absolutely think the Jackets would want Ek. I would hate to lose Fiala or Ek but I think I prefer to lose Fiala. Wild have many left shot wings and he is due a raise. Plus Wild probably have to add more in Ek trade vs. a Fiala trade. I could be wrong but that's my thought process.

Just as a reminder, sounds like Jarmo doesn't want a ton of futures based on what LeBrun tweeted so I'd imagine he wouldn't be all that interested in Rossi or Boldy for that matter.

It’s not about who’s better or produces more. It’s the fact that the jackets aren’t going to move him unless they get what they want. And they won’t be moving Dubois for only a winger. Will probably want a guy like khovanov as well.

Boldy is a better prospect than Rossi. If Boldy is available then Rossi is just easily on the table,

I think a Fiala for Rossi trade would be great. It means Granny turned into the center MN always wanted him to be.

No he isn't, that is just a biased opinion on your part. The vast majority of professional scouts and prospect analyst's who do this for a living disagree with you.

Most prospects lists have Boldy listed in the 30's, Rossi is a top ten prospect on those same lists.

I would REALLY hate to lose Ek. I think he'll be as good as Koivu, but hopefully with Rossi in the system he'll actually have a center on the roster to help out unlike Koivu for most of his career.

I would argue Fiala might be the better player, certainly a lot more fun to watch! PLD playing center might force the Wild to add a 2nd...tops!

Boldy has the higher floor, and the same 1st line ceiling. Rossi's luster isn't as bright as it was after the WJC (not his fault his team sucked), his limited time in the Swiss league, and being injured indefinitely in what should be a big developmental year for him. Boldy on the other hand has had a great season so far in the WJC and BC.

Just look at Kovanov. He was being looked at as much better prospect (2ppg in the Q) between the end of last season and now because he couldn't do anything in the KHL. The "what have you done lately" matters more than offseason scouting reports when it comes to prospects.

Rossi, Bonino, and a 2nd for PLD?

Fiala might be the better player, but it's the wing compared to center positional importance that shifts it to PLD's favor.

I'd go with the later of MN's 1sts (top-3 protected). I don't think a 2nd gets the deal done.

They are in a 2 year window with the way their team is built. They need to try and go for it this year. Maybe they sell off at the TDL if things don't work out. Maybe they try again next year with what they have and then sell at the TDL next season f things don't work out.

They have a lot of rental+1s that could get good returns Jones, Domi, Jenner, both goalies.

I was agreeing with you on the observation.

I actually agree with you there, except for two specific points.

1) Boldy's floor is considered to be a top 9 player, Rossi's floor is considered to be a 2nd line center. Rossi is for the most part considered to have the higher floor of the two prospects. I'd agree, however, that the way Boldy has progressed and looked of late means more then likely he's going to hit his potential ceiling of a top 6 guy.

Rossi's had a rough go of it lately, there's no doubt about that. But I don't think that necessarily drops his value or his ceiling at all, but it does push back his development a bit. So you're right there.

2) Khovanov seems to be back on track playing in the VHL this is once again producing and more importantly his attitude has dramatically improved as well. There's still a high chance he may well yet work out.

Still the 1st with either Boldy or Rossi. Next year's draft will be way too much guessing because of the lack of games for so many draft year players.

Or you could add in something like Addison/Menell + 3rd instead of the 1st.
