Description

According to Darren Dreger, the Jets are one of the teams left. Some were told they’re out, Jets are the only one he named. So, I’m here to put what I think is realistically the best package the Jets could offer for PLD. I’m sure there’s another team that will outbid us, and that’s fine cause Chevy doesn’t have the balls to make this trade anyways.

Perreault is in here for cap reasons, Roslovic is already in Columbus if I’m correct, Niku is sent to sweeten the deal and get more opportunity. Perfetti IMO will be just as good as PLD down the road, but the Jets need to win now. The 1st is always nice to get, so I’m sure CBJ wouldn’t mind another one.

I honestly don’t think CBJ would ask for laine. I say this because at the moment, laine has more value than PLD, laine has been hurt, but he’s actually willingly enjoying playing for his club and is playing well. PLD was benched, said he wanted out and has lowered his value. If CBJ asked for Laine, Jets would ask for an add on their end, also even though I believe torts would be good for laine, like trotz was for Ovi. It’s such a risk for CBJ to acquire laine when they have a coach like torts. That’s why I think they’ll take a package based around other pieces if WPG is the landing spot. If you guys have any feedback, or better package options let me know!

I think that’s realistic since a Canadian team wouldn’t give roster players since with the quarantine they’d have to wait a decent amount of time for PLD to arrive

I honestly think it will be a Laine for Dubois 1-for-1. There's enough suitors for PLD that his shenanigans won't lower his value.

Winnipeg desperately needs a center and Columbus desperately needs some top-line scoring. Both players are the same age and on bridge deals. If anything PLD's value is a bit higher because he has an extra year at a reasonable salary, while Laine is going to get a payday this summer.

I was just thinking about somthing like this, id do it while we are in the window. If he lands in the peg he might do better as 2c while still having solid wingers.

I dont really want to give up laine but we also dont know the ful behind the scene there. Time will tell

I don't disagree. Without the trade demand shenanigans, I think PLD would carry more value than Laine due to the extra year on the bridge deal. With the shenanigans, I think it becomes a 1-for-1 trade (i.e. Winnipeg no longer needs to add).

Yeah you’re probably right. I just thought maybe the risk with laine and torts would be daunting. Also, Canadian teams might be hesitant to move a roster player since they’d have to wait for PLDs quarantine.

Yeah that’s one thing people don’t think about.

Laine is on IR and PLD is supposedly done in Columbus (TSN is reporting that the team told him just to stay at the hotel until further notice). A swap would give Laine ample time to recover from his injury while in quarantine.

Eh, with pld asking for a trade, laine for pld one for one is more than fair. I’d argue laine has more value right now. Honestly I could see a Roslovic + Laine + Niku for PLD + Bemstrom

The problem is that the jets don’t need a centre. They are set up perfectly right now with scheifele and stastny and then long term with scheifele and perfetti. Laine on the other hand is irreplaceable imo. I honestly don’t understand why the jets are interested in this if it involves one of perfetti or laine (which is probably will). Laine is a talent that you just don’t get anywhere else but the lottery and perfetti will be better than Laine imo. I really hope these rumours are false. I’m praying to god for it...

The original trade is the one I like (Wpg is giving alot). Stastny was just a one year deal so his contract will be gone next year. His 6.5 mil could be partially used for resigning Laine. Top 6 of Laine, Scheifele, Ehlers, PLD, Conner, and Wheeler is pretty darn good. Getting rid of Perreault's contract is important for possibly acquiring a top 4 RHD at trade deadline or sooner.

The jets absolutely need a center. Paul statsny is 35 and his contract is up after this year you dont think there is a chance he retires? Best case scenario goes 2 more years? He can be depended on going forward as 3rd line center but that’s it. Perfetti will be a couple years and even then he’s not going straight to second line center. Your forward core isn’t getting any better you need a center and another defense and that’s as good as you’ll do with this group of players.
