Description

Looking at non-PLD/non-Barkov ideas to get this team help down the middle. Arizona has Dvorak, Schmaltz, and Hayton on their team who all are (and project to be in Hayton's case) top 6 centers. The Coyotes could use some help on the blue line, especially with OEL out.

I don't see AZ doing this. If the reason to acquire Dumba is only injury that's a temporary thing. Then you got a log jam at LD when he returns or a guy making a lot of money to play 3LD. Which doesn't really work for most teams.

Dumba is a RHD and the Coyotes have a lot of expiring dmen, they might consider this though Schmaltz has three more years of term on his contract compared to Dumba so I'd think Minnesota would have to add a bit.

This is a team that has good young depth on defense. It's not like they are lacking. None of those expiring contracts are that old and none of them are breaking the bank.

I still don't know what to make of Schmaltz. I think I'd rather target Dvorak with a Dumba trade.

Schmaltz has gone 56% on the dot this year so it seems he has made improvements to his faceoffs, plus he's younger. Dvorak has also never scored more than 40 points in a season. You could make an argument for either of them honestly but I think we'd make good trading partners
