Honestly, I think that both teams win this. CBJ gets the scoring they desperately need, Jets really increase their C depth. I think Jets win this long term, I don’t see laine lasting long in CBJ. Well now I have to change my avatar ughhh

A lot depends on their contract extensions. Both asked for a trade but PLD is a center (holds more value) and plays a more complete game while Laine will pot you more goals. Roslovic is really a throw in at this point so it’s not so lopsided in my eyes.

If the trade would of not of happen and Laine forces an offseason trade like Trouba, would the return be PLD? I was worried about that happening. I was hoping the trade would of been Laine for PLD straight up.

But honestly, I don't like this deal for either or the NHL. You can't keep having guys force their way off small market teams. You don't have a league without them. Someone needs to sit these players down and bring them back down to reality. You can't grow fan bases by doing the **** PLD did. You don't have a league without all those smaller market teams.
So if you end up on one of those teams, like it or not you got to start being all in. That's how you grow a team, a fan base, and the league. To do what these younger players are doing, demanding trades, I won't play here etc... it's toxic not only for the small market teams but the whole league.
It worked out in a swap of them today, but it's a bad precedent to set and one they need to get control of if they ever plan to grow hockey outside of NY, TOR, and MTL.

PLD has ties to the organization, his dad is a coach in the ahl. So honestly, I see him staying. But yes there is a risk there.
