I’m not a huge fan of this for CBJ, but I think from the sounds of it, I’m missing something with Roslovic.

What is his potential looking like? I haven’t really watched him...

He was really good probably top 6 at best but he's been on a downslide and quickly becoming a bust.

The trade equivalent of the middle finger. Let's see how the two guys react to it.

All I can think of is that Chevy knows something that we don't know. Either the Laine situation was actually really bad or that Eric Dubois convinced his son to re-sign come the summer and Chevy was in the know

It's gonna take a Fortnite for Laine to get comfortable in Columbus.

I somehow think both teams lost. Columbus now has no 1C (I honestly see no upside for them) Winnipeg loses a huge depth piece and top 6 W. Winnipeg wins if I had to choose but why

On paper it’s an easy Columbus win since Laine is better than Dubois and Roslovic is most likely better than a 3rd but what is Columbus center depth Domi isn’t a 1c, Jenner is more of a winger, Texier isn’t quite a 1c but in the end it’s still a Columbus win

All jokes aside, IMO Columbus wins the deal by virtue of excising the only true cancer of the three. I also like the Roslovic add for them.

What a bananas trade. I feel like CBJ made this trade from an asset standpoint and not necessarily because they think Laine will fit. Roslovic is a very underrated part of this deal, as I think he is a perfect fit for CBJ/Torts in the long term. Laine I think fits well for about 3 months and then looks to leave again, which CBJ can cash in again on.

PLD will do well in WPG, I could see his frustrations carrying over there however, WPG must have some knowledge that he will be happy back in Canada and wasn't necessarily needing a bigger stage.

4 years from now I think we look back and its obvious CBJ won this in a landslide, with Roslovic a staple in the CBJ lineup and tons of assets acquired from flipping Laine.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this is where this ends up.

Torts’ contract is up after this season, and he has hinted at retiring, and CBJ have apparently been hesitant to give him a raise; so, we’ll see how this pans out from there.

As for the style fit, who knows. Domi has already started to look better, and Bjorkstrand went from essentially playing just like Laine does now (one dimensional offensive player) when he was 20, to now being one of the best two-way forwards around. So, it’s a long shot, but with some but-in from Laine, this could work out.

Or, like you said, maybe it doesn’t and he’s flipped for a bucket of picks in two years. 🤷‍♂️

Same. WE HAVE STASTNY TOO! Why get ANOTHER CENTER! Where does Dubois play?!
And you don't ever trade a young Ovechkin... Man we're screwed 😭

Even if Laine just absolutely hates playing for the Jackets, he still has RFA status after this year and can be flipped to someone else. Hard to see a way where the Jackets completely lose this trade, but I do think the Jets might turn out better here than we're assuming.

Laine could end up being the next Ovechkin ... I think he has more potential than Dubois ... but not every player plays up to their potential, so we'll see what happens. Right now, I'd say Columbus wins the trade, but only time will tell.

Also, is Laine still injured? Was he actually injured at all or was it just because they were going to trade him?

Because it actually...happened. It's rare that ACGM deals actually happen in their pure form.

Jarmo has to be looking to trade Laine, right? Can't imagine he'd mesh with Tortorella lol
