How would we lose him on waivers? He’s not getting out on waivers.

Value may be fine but I don't see the Habs losing him on waivers.

They'll play and keep him on the roster at pretty much all costs. Even if playing him at wing to do so. Habs are slowly accruing enough cap space so they'll be able to call up Frolik and then they'll have a full 23 man roster.

Been thinking about Mete a bit myself. I feel like he might be a fit for Burns or even EK. I also would love it if the Sharks could find away to pry Primeau away from the Canadians.

Another thought I've had recently any chance of moving Couture to the Blue Jackets? They don't really have a 1C but Jarmo thinks he has a two year window which is why he wanted a hockey trade and not futures. I just don't see the Couture contract ageing well.

I think Mete is such a great get for the Sharks long term, but I know way too much about the habs (unfortunately) and they are screwed for future cap, they want him long term I'd guess

Not likely unless the sharks are tanking. Theres no one even close to replacing Couture. We dont even have a 3c much less a replacement 2c

We don’t need to waive Mete. Obviously more cap flexibility is always nice, but we’re in a good position with 21 players and Evans/Kotkaniemi/Suzuki/Romanov being sent down in paper transactions to accrue cap space. If things continue as is, we’re looking at $4.9 million in deadline cap space, which is more than enough.

They don't WANT to waive him. They literally did everything in their power not to. They were willing to lose Perry over Mete and Perry's playing now while Mete isn't. Its all just cap gymnastics. Habs need a 7th dman and Mete is not only a solid NHL'er, he's also cheap.

Only reason Mete isn't playing right now is Romanov has been lights out good. I suspect Mete will get in here soon to give another dman a rest.

It's only 5 games but it hasn't been the most promising start. Another 5 games and I think we will have our answer on if it's time to start taking this team apart.

Only way I see Mete getting moved is if they can get a player of similar age, who is waivers exempt. Doesn’t need to be a dman coming back, I’m sure Habs are comfortable with Fleury as their 7th dman.

Then again, there’s really no rush to move him, as others have mentioned above, if injuries really do get bad, and Habs don’t have the cap to insert Frolik, they can simply use Mete as a forward or a dressed 7th defensemen. Not ideal but as the season moves along, they’ll accrue enough cap to insert Frolik, then problem solved.

Yeah no way of moving all those contracts but center is such a tough position to get I think Couture could be moved to the right team, just not sure who. The Sharks two best pieces are Meier and Hertl but I think in a potential rebuild Meier would be better to keep unless some team really blew Doug away with a good offer. EK has looked better the last 2 games so if that keeps up maybe he becomes moveable in a rebuild scenario.
