Description
Big risk running a tandem of Demko/Dipietro but wtf I’ll toss it into the wind & see where it goes.

As far as the lines I’m sure I’ll hear replies but my reasoning is to 6/40/9 line can reunite in game when needed but these lines are an attempt to get balanced scoring & other dynamics to succeed. Take some pressure off of Petey. Injuries & game situations will allow these lines to not be written in stone.

Buyouts used to revamp the D in a big way.
Bridge deals are fair & allows time for RFA’s to increase their value on merit & also the cap management needed for next contracts eg Boeser etc.

    Dougie probably wont be leaving Carolina for less than 9M

    Although he will be heavily sought after if he would leave he’s not getting close to 9m from any team especially the Canes. I’d think they offer him 7.5m long-term no higher.

    Hot take, if he repeats last season +/- 10 points he's probably a top 5 defenseman in the league. Piet got 8.8 in a taxless state, Dougie could get 9 on the market

    Lets agree to disagree. I don’t see any UFA getting 9m til 2 years from now when the cap might rise. That is iffy.

    He also didn’t captain a team to a cup on his resume.
    2nd a team has to have the cap & be a contender or close. That alone might be what holds back Vancouver.

    Top D imo are:

    Hedman
    Pietrangelo
    Josi
    Heiskanen
    Werenski
    Jones
    Then Dougie

    So 8m is about right til he plays a full season on pace like last season. Then he could fetch more.

    Outside of Hedman and Josi (who are 1 and 2) that list is completely debatable.

    Also as I said, if Dougie repeats then yes he can get an offer of around 9M. I doubt he wants to leave Carolina though. If both Canes and Nucks offer him 8M he's not leaving
