Why would we give out a 3rd to lose our first pair defenceman who is one year away from free agency when we have the cap room?

No need to try to justify this trade. It doesnt make any sense.

We aren’t paying Seattle to take Chiarot. They’d do that easy enough on their own. And why not keep him when we have cap space for both of Chiarot & Edmundson.

And if you really think that Seattle is going to take one of our $3.5 million d-men, then you might as well use the extra cap space to re-sign Armia.
