I still can’t fathom why Watson didn’t fight Beaulieu, he’s not exactly a heavyweight. Waste of a roster spot to play Haley. Banishing him to the minors forever would be fine with me, he can defend the AHLers and not contribute to my mental trauma over these lineup decisions

If you're an enforcer like Watson, and you can't find it in you to fight a guy that Nick Paul fought last year, what exactly are you bringing to the table.

As for Haley, I think that he has some things to teach young players. The problem is the guys who could learn the most from him are guys like Parker Kelly and Mark Kastelic, and they likely won't sniff the NHL much this year, so Haley has no business there either.

The only thing I can think of is that they didn’t think Beaulieu would fight Watson? I know Beaulieu fights once in a while but he’s not exactly a heavyweight, maybe Watson was too scary with that extra reach. Lowry’s more in Watson’s weight class but isn’t an experienced fighter. Speaking of weight classes, I wonder if one of our big boys (Watson, Gudbranson, J Brown) will fight Lucic this year, that would be a super entertaining match and probably some of the few people that might fight him in Canada.

I'm fine with Watson taking on all opponents, so long as he doesn't draw the instigator penalty to do it. Brown and Guddy will have to drop em on occasion, but mostly you probably want those guys available to you, not sitting in the box for 5 min. By and large they are more important on the ice to Ottawa than most of the guys who would actually be brave enough to fight them.

Also the most intriguing matchup this season will be the Tkachuk Brothers. I know Mama Bear has said no fighting, the way they play, I'm not sure it's something you can stop. I'm expecting they go once this season.
