WPG
  1. Pelech, Adam [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
I see Pelech being on the block for a couple reasons. First and foremost, Islanders will again have cap issues. Resigning Sorokin is paramount, and he very likely sees a nice raise over his $2 million now (see about $4 million on a low end bridge deal at this time). Beaulivillier becomes important to. He should see a slight increase over his current rate.

After this, the Islander MAY have about $1 million in space left (being liberal). That isn't enough to get Pelech under contratct.
NYI
  1. Niku, Sami
Additional Details:
Jets need a proven LD on that second pairing. Pelech is a fabulius fit. Cap wise, affordable for the minutes played and what he can do. His abilities on the back end can free Poink up to be more creative. Like this fit a lot.

Moving Niku maybe steep in some circles. But..... DeMelo and Poink are the top dogs right now, and I am reluctant to move Heinola or Samberg...... Islander may have blueline depth, but they will need a guy back that is NHL ready. Niku is - more a numbers game.

Nah...Samberg and Heinola will make the team next year, no need to spend 4M on him

I think there's a factor you've forgotten to add in. The Expansion draft. One of our high priced players will be gone, which one is anyone's guess but regardless Pelechs won't be for sale.

This is quite possible - but given that cap soace they have, Chevy could put an exclamation point on this team.

Love Heinola. Love Samberg. But are they ready for top 4 minutes? I debate that. Hence the move.

And..... let's say they are ready. Is Pelech at $4 million going to be that hard to move? I really don't think that's the case. Very under rated.

You must believe Perfetti won’t be ready to contribute for a few years if you are willing to give up two high picks and $4+M to get Iafallo. I’m hoping he will be ready by then. His progression should be faster now that he will be developed as a winger.

Isles aren’t trading Pelech. If they have to trade any d it would most likely be Leddy

Lol the isles are not trading pelech. He’s by far their best LHD. They will trade Leddy and with the way varlamov is playing, he can easily be moved.

Nope. I am of the believe that in two years Wheeler isn't Wheeler anymore.

So, I employed some forward thinking so that, on paper anyway, the Jets still look to have 2 kick a$$ lines...... of course assuming Scheifele sticks around. That's a horse of a different colour.

Your assuming there is a market for Leddy. Gotta think they tried something this offeseason. Yet, here we are. It's odd, beacause Leddy has a solid two way game, but a cap hit is a cap hit regradless.

Depends on your take of Niku. Depends if the Isles can move Leddy (see above).

Isles received calls on leddy and decided to trade toews instead - and even if they can't trade him (which is unlikely) they can buy him out which frees up 4.25 mill , he has a very buyout friendly contract. Like I said , they can also trade varlamov which frees up another 5 mill.

Also Niku has been awful in the NHL and pelech has been top 15 in most defensive metrics over the last 3 seasons (even pre-trotz his defensive metrics were great). Theyre not moving a top pairing D for a 3rd pairing D at best.

Niku's develooment was side tracked by injury. To say he is aweful maybe a bit of an overstatement.

If it makes you feel better, I am sure the Jetz will happily take on Leddy's expriring deal.

Ya know in hindsight, that might work better for them with Heinola and Samberg coming.
