In a vacuum Colorado accepts (imo), but the expansion draft makes it tough. The Avs need someone on D to expose, and currently Graves is the guy. Including a Beaulieu for Pateryn swap makes it works for the Avs (not sure about Winnipeg though). The quarantine period also makes it tough.

I think the avs would decline. They need someone to be taken at the expansion draft, and that player is Graves. He’s a good defender and likely will not be protected, we need him to go so we don’t loose someone else.
If we trade him it’s almost like we will lose another unnecessary player that we could have kept. Example: Compher or Donskoi or Toews

They won't lose Toews. Even if they have to go with 8 skaters and expose good forwards as a result he will be protected.

Tbh, I'd be thrilled to lose one of Compher or Donskoi because of their contracts. They are replaceable. Samberg plus a second for Graves is a good return. If they can figure out how to meet the exposure requirements then I'm in on this trade.

I’m sure they’d be able to make something work to send you a dman to expose. I already had this talk, but I think Colorado should be moving Graves to get something back for him instead of losing him for nothing. I’m sure they’d be fine with this trade, then losing compher or Donskoi to free up cap.

we had that chat, the value is good in the deal but I think the avs have to risk it and hold onto graves for the playoffs. Timmins and Byram and rookies, Makar is a sophomore. Girard is only 22. Young and talented but they are still babies and a lot of trust and faith in young inexperienced guys as good as they are.

If they move graves they would just have to turn around and pick up another depth dman which isn't the worst thing

personally I would be more interested in somehow getting Stastny as a TDL pick up, always wanted him to finish out his career back in Colorado

I dont like giving up the first in the Arvidsson deal, but it's probably the asking price for his skill set and term.

I can see both sides of this. On one hand getting something for Graves would be great. On the other hand they could really miss him this year.

Like I said though, I think I'd accept so long as they can work out the xdraft wrinkles. The team can't be exposing one of Makar (lol), Girard, or Toews because they don't have anyone else to meet the requirements. Seems like a relatively easy fix though.

Even if they end up throwing Samberg in as a sweetener for Seattle to take Donskoi, they still walk away with the pick. There are definitely some benefits here.

My thought...He is a decent player making little against the cap(which is huge for a flat cap) for 3 more years

Yeah they probably just risk it for the cup run

the one guy who I could see them brining in if the did a graves trade out would be Patrick Nemeth a guy they know and worked well under Bednar in a 3rd pairing role.
At the TDL, what does he go for a 3rd? I dunno if moving out a 3rd just to pick up a 2nd and a prospect is worth downgrading Graves to Nemeth or Nemeth types but stranger things have happened in terms of value. skjei got a 1st round pick at the TDL...so who knows?

Arvidsson is worth a 1st easily, doubt Nashville would let him go for just that.

A 1st is a fine starting point, but WPG is going to have to up this offer considerably to get NSH's attention.

For sure. I just hate dealing first rounders. I also like the idea of havingn open spot in the top 6 for one of these kids to seize their chance. Copp has looked good at times with skilled players, Harkins is only getting better and Perfetti could play the wing next season as he gets used to the NHL. Arvidsson makes the jets better right now for sur e
