It always interests me when Toronto fans want to add a forward. What do you do with your draft picks that are pretty much exclusively forwards?

Aren’t most draft picks forwards for all teams? Seems like you’re just another anti Leafs everything

Develop them into usable players. Something Edmonton hasn't done in a decade.

No. Leafs are my second favourite team. Most teams draft in cycles and try to fit a blueprint. Defence when they need defence forwards when they need forwards, skilled guys for top lines and fast guys who can forecheck in later rounds. Toronto just drafts skilled forwards and even when they need a RD and Braden Schneider is sitting there they draft a forward. I don’t get it there should be enough forwards in the system. The AHL doesn’t start till February 5th as well there should be guys sitting around looking for action.

Ethan Bear, John Marino, Caleb jones. Lots more coming such as carter savoie. Traditionally Edmonton traded their higher picks for washed up players and didn’t know how to make picks lower. Even messed up a 1st overall once but that was a product of poor management.

Edmonton has Bear. That's pretty much it for any developed players since Klefbom. The up and coming players are just more of the same from Edmonton over the past decade. None panned out and I don't see that changing anytime soon. The old boys club thinks players develop on their own.

That’s not true they just had no other options. They couldn’t sign free agents and the ownership group would only let them spend 90% of the cap so they had to trade their best players as soon as they were due for an extension. They had to rush players into playing because they had nobody else. They got a new owner and a good GM now. They’ve been developing players who were not 1st rounders for about 5 years, finally, and the first batch just came through. Ken Holland has went on record now saying he’ll keep players in the minors till they are 21 or 22 if they need The development.

There are simply more forwards to always draft bc there is simply more for awards in hockey. Teams should never draft based on current need, that’s a mistake past managers have made not Dubas
