Colorado definitely says no. They are contending for a cup. They wouldn’t take a downgrade unless they are getting an immediate upgrade elsewhere. Bruins trade I think both say no tbh. Our D depth is lacking without the AVS trade.

No way Boston does that. Coyle has been great since coming over and the defense has been fine. Lauzon and Zboril holding there own and Urho still waiting.

Very well said, the Avalanche are a team going for it all, and this trade doesn’t help them do that.

Graves has been a healthy scratch. No room for him there. Avs can take the cap space and try to add a goalie or forward.

Bos trade only happens if we get Graves. I would say 3C is bigger need for us than LD

This team is much better from these moves IMO. The team now fits and they have their roles clearly defined. The Pens as they currently stand without these moves have all that pieces (many of which are hurt) but they don`t fit together. It is awkward. They need to tweak it and trades are hard to make right now.

Bos needs LD. They can have Craig Smith play 3C for them. Maybe Studnicka.
Colorado would make this deal. I don`t know if they would want something else or would get a better offer though.

Yeah Coyle has been a good fit but you don`t think they would want to improve their D?

Make this deal and move Smith or Studnicka to 3C?

What about Krejci? Would need to retain $$$ though.

It actually does. Graves is sitting in the press box. This gives them cap space to add a goalie or make a splash at TDL for a veteran forward.

Colorado declines in a heartbeat. They're looking to contend and they aren't trading Graves after trading Cole.

Is Riikola and a second better than Graves right now?
It doesn’t matter if Graves isn’t playing he’s still a better player.

There d has actually been very good. But if they decide to go that route it will not be with Coyle or Krejci.

Also. Coyle has an NMC. A local. Living his dream playing for his boyhood team. He’s not going anywhere if he can help it.

Now Kase on the other hand. We can talk.

No...but Riikola is a good depth guy. And actually a 2nd and Riikola does the same for them right now as Graves. Graves is a healthy scratch. They can also use the 2nd or another pick of theirs to use the now available cap space to add a veteran forward at deadline or a goalie (their two biggest needs).

Throw Anaheim the 2nd for Getzlaf?

Get Fleury?

All sorts of possibilities. Will another team buck up and offer more for Graves? Maybe. But I think if GMJR offered this trade today they bite.

Yeah I was wondering about that. Coyle said he is excited to be there long term but MAYBEEE he bites at chance to play with Pens?

Kase doesn`t fill as much of a need. Ideally Pens would add a skilled, right handed center.

I understand this could free up space for the Avalanche, but your answered it yourself Graves is the better player and I think it just come down to that.

BOS can keep that awful Coyle contract. He is not worth 5 mil per for 6 seasons at 28. He's not even a 40 point player or a 20 goal scorer. He's way over paid.

They are loaded on D. Graves is currently a healthy scratch. They get a depth d and add a 2nd. Can use the 2nd to get a veteran F or goalie for cup run. Graves won`t be helping them win the cup from the press box.

No Graves is obviously the better player. But why keep a good player in the press box? Get assets for him now and use those assets to improve your team elsewhere. The Avs can use this deal to their advantage.

If they want a dman, Bruins will move someone else/a pick. Coyle will be likely be the 2C when Krejci retires. Second thing, I don't see the Bruins helping a divisional rival.

Because he’s there because I’d there are injuries like in the playoffs Graves is right there and he’s a better option to turn to then Riikola is.

What about the off season makes you think the bruins want to add on the back end? They’ve been turning down d men left and right.

This is a very easy no for boston.

The Coyle trade is tricky because I don`t know if he waives NTC. But he is a good player. I think both teams would improve from this deal.

Yeah thats what I thought but I wanted to see what Boston fans thought. Too bad...there aren`t too many teams in a position to make a deal like this right now due to financial issues or personnel.

Interested to see Pens-Bruins next couple days.

Which they need to be in case of injuries on a cup run, and for the expansion draft. The only way I'm moving Graves if I'm Sakic is if in some way it's helping shore up the #3C spot.

Thats an expensive insurance policy. Especially when the coach said that he hasn`t been pleased with Graves this year. I don`t think Graves would like sitting in press box all year waiting for someone to get hurt either.

I think if they are smart they take the depth D, pick and then use their other assets to improve their team elsewhere. Maybe add a guy veteran guy on D for insurance.

Trade the 2nd for Getzlaf at 3C and then trade for a veteran D if you want injury insurance. Graves won`t be happy sitting in press box waiting for injuries. Bednar said he hasn`t played well either.

I think they take advantage of Pens need and use the assets/cap space to improve their team for a cup run elsewhere.

Why? Hate to break it you you but Pittsburgh is not a huge draw for players. There are 8-10 teams that are draws. Historic, bright lights big city/market, weather, tax havens. Etc. There are 8-10 teams nobody really wants to go to. The rest are in the middle. Pens are middle. High middle but middle. Leaving the team he grew up dreamed about playing for for anyone else is a downgrade.

Avs easily decline

And you have avs pens and other fan bases saying they same thing, your logic isn’t strong enough why avs would move him and the value isn’t there to tempt them
