Lines after 10 more games

Created by: pharrow
Team: 2020-21 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 25, 2021
Published: Jan. 25, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
So this is what I see happening.

Jankowski plays his way off the 4th line.
He just doesn't have the speed to play here.
He's replaced with Lafferty as the next best option. I think most of us saw this coming.

MP returns, POJ sticks around on 3rd pair.

Eventually Matheson comes back but plays with that top 5 group. Chad being the odd man out.

what's up pharrow! long time no talk (about hockey)

definitely have some thoughts for future lineys once the team can get (somewhat) healthy again. First, I think Janko has been just fine on this team even if he is slower than Teddy or McCann. His line with Tanev & McCann was our best line for the first week of the season. I think he can be serviceable, and while I am a Sam Lafferty stan, I don't know if he has done anything to deserve a lineup spot *yet*. I think it's worth letting them play a bit more, atleast until they prove to be an anchor. I wouldn't even mind seeing ZAR-Blueger-Tanev get some third line minutes and have McCann have some talent on the 4th line.

the defense is EXACTLY what I would like I see once they get healthy. Keep Pettersson-Marino together, with Marino on the right side. I am a bit worried about Dumo-Letang, but am also optimistic about them much like I am about Geno & Zucker.

Don't know where I stand on Laffterty/O'Connor/Sceviour, but I like that we have some players that can step and in play hard, especially when the injuries happen.

I think the think with Jankow is they are already demoting him because the underlying numbers don't look good.
His 5v5 is a 46% corsi. I don't think it's all his fault though. That 3rd line has to deal with the 3rd pairings a lot. But when the underlying's are the worst in the forward group that's how you get moved down. He does get most of his starts in the DZone but thing is, they are getting hemmed in, a good part of that is the defensive pairings that are usually 3rd pair. But you got to get that puck out and he can only do so much with the defense.
I do agree about Lafferty but they will seek a lineup change at some point. It could be ERod, or Lafferty. They are gonna look for someone to press the pace and create space. The last few games are how they want to play. Fast. Up and down the ice.
We need MP to come back to help the defense out. But I think if the play doesn't improve he might be out. 28.6 Corsi in 5v5 last game. 33% total. They won't keep playing that. The game prior was 27.3 Corsi in 5v5. The game befor that was 36.4% corsi in 5v5. During that time his ice time went from 15 mins to 13 to 11......
You take out the two Philly games, actually the 1st one only....and the stats look abysmal. He's playing his way right off the roster.
