Shoot didn’t think about that. Maybe they pay that Neal package I sent to Ottawa to Seattle instead

I mean realistically speaking, Oilers are unlikely to land both the top forward and dman in free agency. Fair contracts though.
I'd rather give Nuge 7 or 8 years if it means bringing his AAV down
Yamo contract seems like an overpayment. I was thinking more in the 7-8 years for $4.5M or so.

    As for the trades
    1) I get that its for cap, but Lavoie is a promising prospect. Would prefer not to move him in a cap dump situation. Would rather give a pick or something
    2) Not trading a 1st rounder for a goalie who would be 31 or 32, and can't seem to play healthy for an extended period of time.
    3) seems like a redundant trade. Archibald would be better in a 4th line role over Benson or Nash. Why not just keep him
    4) Not a chance you are moving a 1st and out top d prospect who is likley a regular by the end of this season for Ekholm. He's good but gonna get a big contract at the end of the season, seeing as he's been underpaid his whole career. Would much rather have a 1st and a cost controlled blue chip prospect
    5) Meh
    6) Sure. Not sure why Tampa would want Kharia though. Don't see him playing the NHL really anymore

Definitely better than most offers for Ekholm on these boards. NSH accepts.

sens trade sucks. not trading brown for that, let alone taking on a bum with negative value as well

Josh Brown might not be a great defenceman, but he’s doing his job, and a 5th for taking on $4.6MM in cap isn’t going to happen. Ottawa can get a lot more for taking on that kind of cap than a 5th.

Nashville trade is horrendous for Edmonton.
Arizona trade is horrible for Edmonton. Kosk is a very solid goalie what exactly are you gaining there? It’s very questionable if improving and any improvement think making is washed down the drain with reliably of health.

Nashville accepts the ekholm trade. I honestly feel like it’s kind of overpayment. Either way Bouchard gives us a good young dman which along with goal scoring wings is one of our biggest needs. Though with Ekholm, Jones, and Nurse on the left side, you may want to trade Broberg instead of Bouchard

I don’t know enough about Lavoie to say if he alone is worth taking Neal’s contract. At a glance, I’d say it’s not enough.

Those two trades combined probably balance out ok though.

If the oilers wanted hall they could land him. He wants to come back. He’s not a fit though he’s too expensive and he’s not a shooter he’s a passer. Mcdavid is the passer they need somebody who can wire it. Guys like jones and Lagesson would be traded not lavoie and Bouchard and a bunch of picks.
