IMO the Jets got kinda fleeced on the net value of the trade, but I will say a Scheifele-Dubois 1-2 punch down the middle is pretty nasty.

I'm genuinely torn about the deal. All in all, I would have liked for it to NEVER get to this point and have us lock up Laine long term. With that being said, I think Dubois is a great fit in Winnipeg, is a player that will sign long term and gives Winnipeg an extremely solid 1-2 punch like you said. I would still rather have Laine, but acquiring PLD in a Laine deal is probably the best we were ever gonna get. I agree CBJ got better value (my opinion) but I can't complain about getting PLD.

I agree... hopefully we can sign him long term...if we can, I don't mind this trade as Laine wasn't signing

100%! After seeing all of the interviews with PLD and his family connection to the city I have a strong feeling he's here to stay. I also found it interesting that he spent his quarantine in Winnipeg last Feb/March!

Jets fans are gonna see the impact PLD has on the game. Driving his line on 5vs5, PP (not like Laine, but might make it more unpredictable/versatile), PK, FO's and defensive play.
Sure wont be lazering bar down on the left side on a PP, but the jets will be better IMO.
I also wonder how much this trade changes the culture. THis is just my take, but it sounds like Laine came into the league cocky and demanding top minutes with the best players. Was he wrong? I dont know, I think the jets couldve used assets to get him a C earlier on.

I don't disagree with you at all! I REALLY like PLD and think that he makes the Jets a more well-rounded team...just hard to lose the Laine Laser lol.
