Kopitar leads the NHL in points, don't disrespect him like that.

If you're trading Kopitar for a prospect make it a D-man

yeah I didn't know which one to get so I just assumed they were taking a LHD in this draft

Ty Rattie doesn't have 70,80,90 point seasons under his belt, 2 selves, and 2 Stanley Cups. Where did all the knowledgeable people on this site go...

There's no way the Kings (or any team) would retain that much money for that long.

Blake said he's not trading any of Kopitar, Doughty, or Brown.

He's certainly not trading him 4M retained for 1 good prospect and a winger Habs fans are always complaining about.

Montreal doesn't have any D prospects that would be of interest to the Kings.

Ok. I never said that they would trade him, or retain him, or if they did trade him that it would be to Montreal for one prospect.

Kings decline, Kopi has already been a presence for Vilardi to learn form, Turcotte and Byfield will only be better with him. He also has proven that he can still shut down top lines and score at a high level. Caufield and Drouin stock are not as high as they were, no logic for the Kings to make this trade nearing the end of their rebuild where the value of his NHL playoff experience and how to play against the leagues top lines will be important.

You need a larger sample size that Anze Kopitar is still good?

Most of Montreal's Best Prospects are actually Defensemen, We have Struble, Harris, Norlinder, and Guhle all projected to be at least NHL Defensemen at Left Defense only. Now I'm not saying them for Kopitar but with all of them playing a different style of game I'm sure the kings would have interest in at least one.

LHD Montreal would give up for Kopitar include Guhle, Struble, Mete, Kulak and Harris

Kopitar is definitely worth more than the package above but like Ziggy said Blake is not giving him up and Montreal won't give up the pieces required to make a deal happen.

Montreal has many good LHD prospects that the Kings would be interested in Harris, Struble, Guhle, Norlinder and Romanov would all be interesting to Blake and the Kings with Romanov and Norlinder topping the list. However Montreal would only consider moving Guhle, Struble and Harris so that kills a deal.

Fair enough, I'm not sold on Guhle and he's the only one I know a little bit about. Not familiar with the others.

I have lots of interest in Romanov, but given Montreals lack of NHL LD I didnt count him since he's probably the most valuable LD in the organization.

I'm not familiar with the others tbh.

Struble and Harris both play for Northeastern and are tearing it up, both have 10 points in 11 games.

and Norlinder is an offensive D man with top pairing projections. A future pairing of Romanov and Norlinder are what all Habs fans and the team hope will dominate the NHL for years to come.

Thanks for the info. I can't see the Kings targeting any offensive defensemen. We already have Grans and Spence. Clague and Durzi as well, but they seem to be busts and liabilities defensively.

Struble isn't actually an offensive D man, his acumen is defense and physicality this is the first year his offense has really came out. He is starting to look like a Petry type of player.

I'd say it would be a close decision between Suzuki and Romanov for the hardest player to make the habs trade away.

and here's a bit about the Prospects me and Campabee mentioned, however, keep in mind these do have some Habs Bias.
Norlinder:
Tobias Enstrom On Mattias Norlinder
Norlinder 25 under 25
Struble and Harris:
Harris and Struble: Fire and Ice
Struble, Harris ‘will be good NHL players’
Struble 25 under 25
Harris 25 under 25

It's not everything but it will at least introduce them, it's unfortunate there is no unbiased way to see prospect updates.

Also, Harris isn't an Offensive Defenseman he is more so a Markov type Defender who can play Offence and Defence at a decently high level and will likely adjust his play according to his partners play style

of course not, it's just annoying when people make the point "they're leading the league in points" like 5 games in

Ah yeah, I feel you. But Kopi is still valuable as the Kings #1 center that will slowly move down the lineup and allow Byfield, Turcotte, and Vilardi to move up. If I'm Blake the only one you really are worried about is the Doughty contract, and even retaining on that is a waste.
