The Leafs could offer Dermott and a second to replace Dunn's production, but the value they want is a first round pick. Also notice that Dermott is a healthy scratch for the Leafs tonight, so there is that situation

They can "say it costs a 1st" but it won't. That's just their initial asking price. It's call negotiation. You don't start with a low price and work up, you ask too much and come down. He won't get a 1st from any team with how he's played this season.

Side note: Leafs shouldn't be interested in him anyways. Rielly, Muzzin, Brodie, and Holl are miles better. & I'd keep Bogosian on the third out for the role he plays better and not costing anything to get. Dermott and Dunn are arguably similar d-man. Plus Toronto has a ton of good d prospects coming up. Wouldn't mess with Dunn at all

why would we give up a 1st for a guy who got burned by a player we used to own and as a result is gonna be a healthy scratch. Those are red flags right there.

Blues have been calling other teams about a trade. That lowers his value as other gms know okay they want to get rid of him. Rn a 2nd and an alright prospect is his worth. But if he continues to play bad that values gonna drop

Erik Karlsson got completely burned by Jordan Kyrou. Guess that means Karlsson is only worth a 2nd rounder because that's where Kyrou was drafted...

Obviously I'm joking but Dunn is worth a first. At the very least, worth a good prospect and 2nd. Some of the best NHL defenseman have gotten burned by 4th liners. It happens in the NHL.

That's the point. The description explains that a cap dump trade would also have to take place for this to even be a possibility.

Dunn's an LD and Toronto is set in that position. Not the guy they're after.
