Lmao exactly. I think @pharrow will agree with this too. Both contracts aren’t good. Pens got the younger riskier guy with more upside while FLA got the older more proven guy. It’s a small sample size. I can assure u that hornqvist contract WILL get ugly. It’s just a matter of time.

Rather have a player who is good for 2 years of the 3 remaining on his deal than have a player who is bad during all 6 years

Matheson has been bad and has played badly so far this season. It's not like he is magically going to get better.

He’s play less than 2 games pipe down. He absolutely could get going in pit. He also hasn’t been nearly as bad as you make him sound in Florida. He can absolutely be a fine #4 or #5D. Overpaid but fine

He’s played a game and a half on a new team without a training camp and preseason. Hardly time to panic lol

the only reason Horny looks good in FL is the team is so F ing slow he fits in. He could never keep pace with the way the penguins play. Anyone watching that current team looking at the speed knows that.

No doubt Matheson's contract is bad though, and I have said FL got the better part of that deal. No based on play though. But on the fact that Horny got 2 years left and that contract is easier to move instead of the 5 Matheson has left. Even if Defense is always in need.

But Horny was nothing but an anchor in PIT. You just don't realize it because your top 6 ihas Verhaeghe, Wennberg, and Duclair. All guys that are 3rd liners on good teams.

Wennberg I don't know what his deal is. He has talent it's like there is something blocking it. But if you had depth at center he'd be a 3C. Most teams looked at him this summer as a 3C.
Duclair.....he been bounced around for a while with his issues. I'm not going to get into that. I know he's not a legit top 6 guy. He's got decent speed and a decent shot, but he just don't play hard enough off the puck. It's what has dogged him from team to team.
verhaeghe was going nowhere fast in TB. He's 25 spent most his time in the AHL, got 54 games to his name. Lets not pretend that is the making of a top 6 player.
