Why would anyone pay to acquire Dubnyk? He's not very good.

Matt Nieto isn't worth a 3rd.

And if Marleau wants a cup the last place he should go is Toronto! tears of joy

Seems to me that if the Sharks really want to start a rebuild, they need to trade pieces like Burns, Kane, and Hertl that have value.

I get what you're going for here, but I wouldn't call it a "tear down" lol

I say we retain on 3 guys like Sorensen, Marleau and Nieto and get more value out of them. I'd say Nieto @ 350k is more worth a 3rd than how it is now. And Marleau is probably worth more retained as well. I wouldn't bother with Dubnyk, I just don't think he has any positive value right now. And even if he did, I would think other teams have plenty of better trade options available. You're not hearing complaints from be if we're discussing getting as many picks as possible in upcoming drafts though.

Lmao the problem I see here is the "realistic" part.

Nieto isnt worth a 3rd - Fact
Bruins dont want another middle-bottom 6 guy - Fact

I cant comment very well on the others so I wont. But i know what i know lol

Dubynk isn’t awful. He is average. And for only a million on the cap. A team that could be in the mix looking for a safety value option.

Nieto is awesome penalty killer. Works hard on the puck/forecheck. And is on a minimum contract. A playoff team in hunt and wants to beef up there PK and bottom 6 would pay a late 3rd/4th round pick.

I wouldn't really use "beef up" to describe Nieto's impact. His skill is in his speed, but he's not very physical at all.

I wouldn't mind adding him as a 13/14th forward sort of add as he knows the Avs system, but certainly not at the price of a 3rd. Maybe a 6th or a middling prospect perhaps. You'll probably disagree with that valuation and that's fine, I'll simply echo what the Bruins fan above said and bow out of the Nieto 'bidding war'.
