I still think Strome would be the player he was in Edmonton on this team, but I think this trade makes sense. Only wrinkle is that Chytil is out for a while due to injury so the Rangers probably don't make this trade for a while.

This would be a coup for BG. Strome would help this year and it’s be good expansion fodder we discussed earlier.

Yeah, I figured after 15 or so games this trade may be worth looking at assuming we're still in contention and looking to compete. Not that Strome is my desired target, just one that I think could maybe help us make a push this year at low cost while us fans shouldn't be too concerned whether he ends up being a expansion draft casualty or not.

If the price is a 3rd and we can move Johansson, it’s a no brainer. If we lose him to Seattle, I like that better than losing Greener the way he’s playing. One way to think of this is paying Seattle a 3rd to take Staal.

Haha... yes it’s a possibility. I wouldn’t trust him. We must take that into consideration! Haha.

We need cap to go back. Johansson is off the books after this season. I think a 2nd would be considered but IDK how the front office would.

Mojo isn't a center anyway so it'd need a 2nd. Wonder why they wouldn't.

The MIN second will be around 40 and they don’t really care about the record this year. If they ended up getting a contenders 2nd or offered up 2 3rds I think they’d do it.

gotcha

I’d keep an eye on this after Chytil comes back, I think there might be something here.

Only 9 of Stromes assists were on Panarin goals... And his goals were the same as the season before when he didn't have Bread.

I don't either, but in reality he'd be the 2nd best center on the Wild this year. Really just dumping MarJo is a win on it's own, anything else after that is pure bonus.

I wonder if the Rangers would rather take Rask. He can play the Jesper Fast role or a depth C.

Rask has that extra year and about the same cap as MarJo. It really doesn't do anything do downgrade from Strome to Rask and only save $500k next year. With MarJo NYR would at least get $4.5m in cap next year.

Rask is also a buyout possibility for MN in the offseason. If you want him, sign him cheap as a UFA for free.

I was just thinking about this. If NYR wanted him I’m sure they’d do it.
