As a leafs fan, Tkachuk and its not even close

I see an argument happening on my last thread so wanted to include everyone

if it's not tkachuk, then the flames are making a huge mistake

Gotta think it's Tkachuk if for the only reason, they are trying to appease him so he signs long term in Calgary. My own opinion is both Tzachuk brothers will try to be UFAs as soon and leave Calgary and Ottawa and play on the same team....maybe St Louis.

Well thanks for calling a "hot take". Again it's just my opinion. There are lots of players in the NHL and other pro leagues who chose to change teams when they can as UFAs, certainly not just Tavares.

the nhl isn’t other pro leagues, it’s far more conservative and turnover just doesn’t happen. elite players show unwavering loyalty to the team that drafted them for a long time, the thought that everyone wants to go play for their childhood team is foolish when tavares is the only high profile example of this happening


I think dube gets it, they’re super high on him. Someone (I think Gio?) even said he’s probably the future captain of the team. I don’t think they’ll wait long enough with no captain for him to take that on (it’ll most likely just be tkachuk) but I think he’ll get an A after gio leaves, he oozes leadership (wore the C for canada at the wjc). Super long term tkachuk+dube+pelletier is the likely leadership group, maybe with one of andersson/valimaki as well

You need your Capt to have respect from other team's leaders too. He's an Alternate, but cannot see this guy with a C on his jersey

Well its very likely to happen. Regardless the opinions of other teams captains does not matter remotely as much as the opinions of teammates. He is well known as the lo ker room leader in Calgary
