Created by: ken_holland
Team: 2020-21 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 27, 2021
Published: Jan. 27, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Enough cap space for a goalie trade at the deadline.
Trades
EDM
  1. Dunn, Vince
  2. Sanford, Zachary
Additional Details:
Dunn is a quality top 4 defenseman that is great at moving the puck.

He's more of an offensive defenseman, but is a possession monster. If the puck is always in their zone, they can't score.
STL
  1. Larsson, Adam ($2,000,000 retained)
  2. 2021 1st round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
This was proposed by a Blues fan. Larsson's contract expires next year. Picks are top 10 protected.

All of Canada would love it if you traded Larsson for Dunn....EDM then has two players(Barrie and Dunn) who is all offence and no defence...until their offense dries up too

Ah but more offense can also improve our defense

Currently, Larsson cannot move the puck at all. So the puck is always in our zone when he's on the ice, and there's a higher chance of it ending up in the back of our net.
With Dunn (who is an excellent puck mover), the puck stays in the offensive zone for most of the time, where there's a lower chance of it ending up in the back of the net unless the net is empty.

Sometimes the better defensive player can be the one who doesn't play defense because he doesn't need to.

Edited Jan. 27, 2021 at 6:28 p.m.. Reason: I’d rather just ride caleb jones.
Can’t we trade Barrie? That 1st round pick is what really screws up the whole deal they can’t affford to give up 2021 1st round. Edmonton will also have more defensemen come March like Broberg and samorukov.

I’d rather just ride Caleb Jones. Bringing in somebody else who isn’t sound defensively is not going to help.

This is the same GM that signed Faulk to a 7 year deal. I don’t think Armstrong is infallible.

his on-ice stats are good, but apparently too many giveaways in a 6 game sample size, big brain from St. Louis
