I'd very much like to see the trade but I think moving Letang is a smart move. He's lost 2 steps already and I'm willing to bet in 2 years he'll hardly be a number 2 d-man

I think ownership made it awkward. I compare it to the kings not trading Quick or Brown. Even though them and their contracts suck they were so good for so long and its a bit disrespectful.

As a Pens fan, they should have moved him same year as kessel. Marino and Pettersson are our best dman. Letang is bringing Dumo down too

One needs to separate the adulation of the past (which, in this case, would be Letang's prime) and the past itself

It’s a small sample size this year. He’s been elite every year of his career and keeps himself in excellent shape. It’s a mental slump right now and I’m pretty confident he’ll bounce back. Trading Letang would hurt the penguins more than help them

Agreed. Your best pairing is MP-Marino. They're soooooo underrated

He didn't look elite last season (and don't bring up the fact he played with JJ, I know JJ stinks) and in the bubble he was literally awful. Constantly made mistakes. I watched your 4 games vs MTL btw

Letang should have been moved this offseason and use cap space to better the team.

I watch him every night. He was elite last season despite being paired with JJ. I’ll just leave this here.

There is no scenario trading Letang would make this team better

How are you gonna add a #1D for 7.25 without trading significant assets?? Not possible

He's only a number 1 offensive d-man now. Marino, MP and Dumoulin, are all MILES better than him when it comes to defense

in 2017 we won by committee, and Letang isnt a #1D anymore, he is just part of the core of Marino Pettersson and Dumo.

Interesting...

I dont think management wanted Letang gone because he was an integral part of their championships. Its kinda like a courtesy thing almost.

Now we have explanation for why GMJR left, its seemed so abrupt for guy who loved his job.

Even if he was terrible for a few years now I still feel bad for the guy. He was right in that case

In 2017 we got outstanding goaltending LMAO. Not gonna get that again. And Letang is clearly still a #1D lmfao. Analytics say it, NHL reporters say it, Norris trophy voters say it. This sums it up perfectly:

Yes he’s struggled this year. It’s also an extremely small sample size. I guess Carter Veraghee is better than Malkin by that logic.

Anyways, according to Rob Rossi (who I trust), that tweet was all click bait.

Off topic, but remember when Rutherford and Rossi got into it and Rutherford told Rossi to go back to his ice cream truck?

And Rossi was pissed off lol. You would think that if anyone would make up some rumour that Rutherford left cause pens forced him out over Letang, it would be him, yet he completely debunked it.
