There is nothing in that pile of scraps that would make the Ducks Consider moving Rakell and Manson with retention

Yes I see the 1st round pick

Pile of scraps? Holl is probably better than Manson right now and is on a much cheaper contract. Rakell is better than average but certainly not a difference maker.

A LHD the Ducks already have too many of, a worse version of Manson whos stats are inflated from being on a good team and playing with a good partner a C grade prospect and some picks is a pile of scraps

Manson is better than Holl no question, put Manson where Holl is and Holl where Manson is and theres no question. Rakell is worth at minimum what Kapanen got

We'll trade you Manson with 50% retention for Holl and the 2022 second. Nothing else about that package interests us because we can get a better offer including a first for Rakell, who is quite a bit better than Kapanen.

Holl has been carrying Muzzin. He is literally the best Dman on outlet team now. Better than Manson with no doubt. Holl has found his game and playing with a ton of confidence... ask Mcdavid...

SDA worth a 4th at best, Mikko about the same, a late first a second and some mid-rounders doesnt get Rakell and Manson is much better than Holl

That Kapanen trade was a bit of a steal. But he is putting up better points than Rackell on the third line right now. I think Rackell is the better player. With retention probably a 1st and a prospect.

Rakell is worth the first and second. You get to keep your prospects, who would be fourth on our depth chart at both positions.

There certainly it a question whether Manson is better than Holl. It's 2021, not 2017. Holl was better than Manson last year and the trend continues Leafs got lucky getting as much for Kapanen. You have to admit the current edition of Rakell isn't THAT special. He hit his high marker mark in 2017/18

Oh, dude...

Holl is better than Manson, cheaper than Manson, signed longer than Manson... Leafs lose that swap.

So Leafs are already in the hole on this trade and then you've got a 1st, 2nd, 5th, Lehtonen, and SDA for Rakell... That's more than fair, regardless of the fact that Lehtonen doesn't fill a need for you.

You keep saying that but Holl is better in every stat and the eye test. And it’s not even close. What are you basing your opinion on? I mean it’s not like Manson doesn’t have good partners.

Never said anything about 2017 so not sure why you bring that up. Im one of Mansons harshest critics, always have been. 2021 Josh Manson is better than any version of Justin Holl, I watch every Ducks games and most Leaf games and I can say that without a doubt. Yeah Manson has regressed since 2017 no one denies that, he's still better than Holl. I never claimed Manson was some top tier Dman anymore, he isnt. He's a second pair guy no more, no less.

Rakell isnt that special, but in the right situation he can easily push 60+ points a year. Look at the quality of the team around him since then, It's been a pretty steep fall off in terms of teammates.

This is good for Ottawa, who doesn't need or care about Watson, who's signed for 3 seasons at $1.5MM per. They can watch Vesey walk after this meh season, and either buy out that last year of Engvall's contract, or just play or sit him all season because they have the cap space. So it's $4.5MM salary dollars out, and $3.4MM salary dollars in, a savings of $1.1MM real cash to pay for Watson's replacement in that 3rd season, possibly another Galchenyuk/Spezza/Ennis cheap signing, and they get a 3rd.

Using the Kapanen trade as a comparable is kind of unrealistic. Dubas got out in front of a market that he knew was going to shift, and it since has. It was an absolute steal in the first place and circumstances are different now.

Lmfao, bet it would but I think we keep him. Would probably be engvall a 1st and a 2nd for Rackell retained. Give or a take a bit. Engvall for cap reasons.

Ah yes the stats that come from playing with a playoff team compared to a lottery team? very good way to judge players. Having a good D partner doesnt affect the god awful offense the Ducks have had for 3 years now.

Never said that wasnt fair for Rakell, I said not with 50% retention, And the Ducks need Quality assets, especially in a Rakell trade not quantity
