Florida Fans Response to the Total Rebuild post

Created by: VijayPatel11
Team: 2020-21 Florida Panthers
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 29, 2021
Published: Jan. 29, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I personally would not trade Ekblad, I think he is one of the major pieces of our franchise that needs to stay to provide some stability.
I don't think COL and VGK are great landing spots for our two main guys. COL has a lot of star power on the forward front and probably wouldn't need Hubie and VGK doesn't really have the assets to repay us for Barkov.

3$925,000
Trades
1.
FLA
  1. Timmins, Conor
Additional Details:
D Pipeline is pretty clogged, I think having Wennberg at 3C and PK would benefit them more than having Timmins on the 3rd pair
COL
  1. Wennberg, Alexander ($1,125,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Good 3rd line center, has a history of good defensive and PK play
2.
FLA
  1. Caufield, Cole [Reserve List]
  2. Fleury, Cale
  3. Lehkonen, Artturi
  4. Weal, Jordan
  5. 2021 1st round pick (MTL)
Additional Details:
I don't know whether Caufield is "untouchable" or not, but this is about what I would want for a player of Hubey's caliber. I'm sorry if it is too much.
MTL
  1. Huberdeau, Jonathan ($2,950,000 retained)
Additional Details:
I think they are really missing a 1st line winger, and Huberdeau could help them fill that gap (for 3 years on a fantastic deal!)
3.
FLA
  1. Addison, Calen
  2. Bjugstad, Nick
  3. Boldy, Matthew [Reserve List]
  4. Hartman, Ryan
  5. 2021 1st round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
Bjug and Hartman for the cap to work. I don't want to trigger anyone so I am not asking for Rossi in return, so Instead I put Boldy. Also, Minny's top 4 seems to be pretty set with all of the long term deals, so I think Addison would be an acceptable ask.
MIN
  1. Barkov, Aleksander
Additional Details:
Minny seems like a team that would want a player like Barkov. A legitimate 1st line center would do wonders for their top line and could help take Fiala and Kap to the next level.
4.
FLA
  1. Gostisbehere, Shayne
Additional Details:
Rumors, just a possibility, I personally would like for this to happen.
PHI
  1. Yandle, Keith
  2. 2021 2nd round pick (FLA)
5.
FLA
  1. 2021 2nd round pick (CAR)
CAR
  1. Driedger, Chris
Additional Details:
Might get taken by Seattle depending on how well he plays, but so far he has looked great.
6.
FLA
OTT
  1. Gudas, Radko
Additional Details:
Somewhere, we have too many contracts.
7.
FLA
  1. Eriksson, Loui
  2. 2022 1st round pick (VAN)
Additional Details:
Can take on bad contracts with newfound cap space.

You could get way better deals for Huberdeau and Barkov. They are arguably top 10-15 in the entire league for their positions. If that’s all you want for a retained Huberdeau then I hope the Oilers make a huge push for him.

I didn't want to get flamed so I kind of lowballed the bigger trades

Caufield is mostly untouchable, but if we’re getting Huberdeau at 50% retained, he’s definitely available.

I'd do Graves for Wennberg, but Timmins has value to us in the 2-way contract and ELC. Easy to move in and out of the lineup this year.

You are way underselling a top 10 W and top 10 C in their prime and on good contracts

Massive no from the Avalanche.
We are not going to give you a high end defenseman for Wennberg. I get it Wennberg is a good player and a good 3C but he got bought out for a reason and is definitely not worth Timmins.

0 points, liability in all areas so far. You got yourself a real elite prospect there. Has there ever been a trade that you've liked? Every single post I see you in you are bashing the author of the acgm...

liability in all areas? Dude dont get defensive about your trade by attacking and making up stuff about the player to justify your trade
I have lots of healthy discourse about trades that are fair and good for the Avs, now attacking me bc you dont like that avs fans are not agreeing with your trade....tsk tsk

for what its worth i think the concussion/injury history behind timmins is no joke and as good as his ceiling could be, he has an equally devastatingly low floor.

If Wild countered Boldy, Dumba, Penguins 1st and a good forward prospect would you do the Barkov deal? Reason being your current deal would likely cause the Wild to lose Ek in ED.

Who would the forward be? Like beckman or something? I would probably accept but I'm not sure anymore

Concussion injury sure, it was a scary one but he does seem to have turned the corner on it, it doesnt limit him from playing the game the way he used to.
I dont really believe there is an injury history to be concerned about, he got hurt last season int he AHL, shoulder and it was fine required no surgery or anything. Players get banged up and if we start labeling every player with an injury history bc they miss time here or there bc of non surgery injuries then the whole league is injury prone

yeah but when you miss 2 years immediately with injuries then get buried on the depth chart it doesnt look great for prospect outlook. Timmins looks like he could be a great nhl dman but i mean look at a guy like ferland or loui eriksson. a concussion or 2 more after a really scary one and he might not recover from it. mentally or physically.

or he could overcome a concussion issue like Crosby who missed significant time bc of it and never looked back once he got healthy
From what we can tell to date as fans, and really its not of our business to speculate how prone a guy is to a concussion, he seems to be healthy and has no limitations from.

i mean sure but everyones different. if bergeron didnt have a nasty concussion early on in his career i think he has a much higher scoring output. I think its fair to say scary brain injuries bring up red flags in trade discussions. who knows what his value is tbh avs are loaded at d. im kinda shocked they didnt move him for scoring depth yet.

Surely if FLA start to rebuild then they keep the still comparatively young Huberdeau & Barkov to build around.....jus' sayin'!

avs dont need scoring depth. They have one of the top offences in the league in terms of Goals For last year, and this year again one of the top teams. They have the scoring depth.
Timmins fills a very important role for the teams build going forward. He balances the RHS side and he will fil a void once Graves is selected from the expansion draft or is traded. Timmins on his cheaper contract fills Graves spot with ease

Timmins is more high end prospect, or young player. Not really proven himself as a top NHL defenseman.

Certainly worth more than a pending UFA depth C though

How many FLA fans use this site?

For the MN trade: Addison+Boldy+1st are too much for a rental+1 Barkov. They aren't in a 2-3 year Cup window where Barkov is the missing piece that will push them over the top.

It's more about timing (the expansion draft is another concern here) than value for this trade from the MN side. It would be great to have Barkov on the team. He's exactly what they need, but if he walks as a UFA MN shot themselves in both feet with the trade.

I was thinking Beckman or Khovanov possibly could be talked into Khusnutdinov.
