Dunn to WPG

Created by: CrazyComet37
Team: 2020-21 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 29, 2021
Published: Jan. 29, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Adding Dunn would be huge.

Not sure what the return would be, just my idea. I've seen a lot of mock trades for a 1st and Vesalainen, which I think is a little too much.

A first is too much for Winnipeg to give up for a smallish LD they don't need.

They do need another top 4 defenseman though. The size does worry me, but I don't think it's much of an issue with how good he is. Also, I think Dunn could switch to the right side next year if Heinola and/or Samberg are ready.

He is not good...hence why STL wants him to go

When you play against other teams that have a heavy forecheck, yep...Morrissey and Poink both got owned against Calgary last year cuz they were too small to either move players out of the crease and got checked hard. Both are about that size...

6’0 203 is not small at all. Dunn is stronger than a lot of 6’3 Dmen, he doesn’t shy away from contact. Also moving players out of the crease doesn’t mean you’re good defensively. Dunn is elite defensively, always in good position and has very good anticipatory instincts in the Dzone. That’s what’s important and what the jets need, not some 6’4 pylon who throws hits and is physical.

Hmmm. "Elite defensively" and healthy scratch don't seem to go together.

The numbers don’t lie. STL committed 10 mill to two 3rd pairing caliber D (Faulk and scandella) and let pietrangelo walk. It’s almost as if coaches and GMs can make stupid decisions.
