When you see the articles that say 'the rangers have a nice collection of young high value assets to make an eichel deal happen...', this isn't the collection that they mean.

That package is closer to 1-year of Taylor Hall...take Georgiev out and make one of the picks a 3rd, and that would be about fair market for Hall.

Eichel package would be closer to:
1. Lafreniere
2. Fox
3. 2021 1st pick (unprotected)

Teams trading elite talent never get back the full haul they think they will get. Their lofty expectations always are brought down.

Kravtsov is one of the Rangers Top Prospects. Both 1st Rounders (especially 21') should be in the lower half of the Round. Deangelo and Georgiev provide you upgrades at their respective positions.

Eichel is playing nice for now, but will force their hand eventually. Kakko, Lafreniere and Fox aren't going anywhere. And I am sure they can still put together a decent package without K'Andre or Lundkvist involved.

The problem with the package provided is that there's nobody in that haul that has All-Star upside. Realistically, the package starts with Kakko or Laf, one of Miller or Lindkvist, and a first.

Kakko
Miller
1st

Would probably get it done. But Kakko has looked lousy- and analytically speaking, one of the 5-10 worst players in the NHL- for going on a full season of games now, so idk. Miller looks amazing though.

I would argue Kravtsov has that upside. Plus the additional 1st Rounder involved, to pick up some slack.

On top of the fact that the Rangers are absorbing $10M in salary. That alone requires Deangelo and Strome to be involved to offset those financials.

If Eichel is unhappy and wants out of Buffalo because they are not winning, why is there reason to believe he will be any happier not winning in NY

Besides playing for an Original Six fan base, the Rangers rebuild has been as rapid as one could believe. He would be getting on right at the time it would start paying dividends. Not the same situation in Buffalo. Even with some of their younger pieces like Dahlin and Cozens, that Front Office hasn't done anything over the past couple years to instill confidence in the fan base (or Eichel).

Once again not enough quality going to Buffalo for Jack Eichel, Jack Eichel > > Strome+DeAngelo+Georgiev+Kravtsov+NYR 2021 1st round pick+NYR 2022 1st round pick.

Liane for PLD?

I thought that was evenly matched on both sides. Helped by the fact that all 3 wanted out of their previous team. No futures involved.

We would give up Zibenejad, if need be. Buffalo could flip him. Wouldn't resign him anyway if we got Eichel. But I think Rangers prefer to make a run for 1 year with both on the Roster.

Krav is going to be a good top 6 guy, but I think his ceiling is something along the lines of a Buchnevich type. Very good player, yes. All star and centerpiece of a franchise altering talent, no.

It worked out because disgruntled players were involved on both sides. Each GM was feeling pressure to get a deal done. And while that deal brought back a good player on either side...it didn't require the kings ransom that Buffalo fans are looking for.

Ranger fans are looking for that final big piece to compliment their young base and officially move out of this quick rebuild.

For better or worse, the Leafs already have their Contender built. No need for them to swing a blockbuster deal. At least not until a 5th straight knockout in the 1st Round. Then you'll see Toronto fans take this site over when the Summer approaches.

yep they willtears of joy and i agree but it is funny seeing almost all the rangers armchair gms have a blockbuster or more than other teams like when you look at the ducks there are some but allot of them are smaller moves

If I was Adams and Eichel asks out (which I do think happens this summer) I don't just trade him bc he wants out (seems that didn't work out to well with ROR). If I'm not mistaken Eichel has no say so in where he is traded until the next year of his contract goes into effect so the team I'm looking at would be Anaheim who has a young center in Zegras as a replacement for Eichel. I 'DO NOT' trade him without a high end or potential high end center coming back. Look at the time they had getting a 2C the last couple of years let alone a 1C. So basically NY does not have such a center bc Zibs isn't available according to Ranger fans.

I'm not suggesting a one for one trade just where it starts for me.

Buffalo should have traded Eichel to CBJ or WPJ for a package that included either Liane and Roslavoc or PLD and a draft pick.

Buffalo missed out on an opportunity if they wanted to make a hockey trade with top line talent coming back to them in trade. Now they'll have to settle for prospects and/or picks in exchange for Eichel, unless another teams top talented player requests a trade.

Because there were equivalent talents heading each way. In your deal here what is there really that's of interest to Buffalo?

Strome - product of Panarin, 3C at best

ADA - one good year and nothing more than a PP specialist

AG - why does Buffalo need a goalie? They have UPL whose
one of the top goalie prospects.

Kravtsov - The best piece your offering

Pair of 1st - Awesome, but NYR are serious contenders with Jack....so those picks are more than likely late 1st.
