A 1st for Zajac seems kinda high considering that a few of Bonino, Staal, Cizikas, Tierney, Wennberg, and Haula will also be available.

Would love to add him as 3C though. Sakic has never traded a 1st though.

We’ll just buyout Moore or push him onto Seattle. 4 deep on LD with Lauzon, Grizz, Zboril, Urho. No need for Butcher.

If the Devils draft one of Lambos, Power, Edvinsson, Clarke, Hughes , they will be in great shape

Sakic isn’t going to move a 1st for a bottom 6 guy knowing he he is already traded the next 2 yrs 2nd rd picks.

Edmonton isn’t going to trade pool party and a second rounder for a mediocre LW. They are going to sign a 60 point winger in free agency. They also need a left shot not a right.

You are not asking too much for Palmerie if an extension is included. Could probably get more out of Isles if an extension is in place. Maybe a better prospect (Bellows).

But if it is just straight up at the deadline (no extension), then its too much. If deadline deal, it would likely just be a second round pick or a B prospect (Wilde, Aho, HoSang, [Hickey + 2R pick], Dal Colle, Van De Sompel, Hutton. Isle don't have many decent prospects to move or that other teams would want. IF they move Bellows, Wahlstrom, Holmstrom, Bolduc it wont be for a rental.

Zajac is gets you a second rounder at best. I do think Sakic will be looking bottom six guys at the deadline.

Overall, would rather see NJD bring quality young players back and fewer picks. Ideally, they would prioritize the following at TDL and over off-season.

    1. A young, top pairing LHD (or prospect)
    2. Another top-six (or at least middle-six) winger/finisher.
    3. A back-up 1b type goalie.
    4. A veteran, two-way, bottom-six center
    5. A puck-moving RHD for bottom pair.

#1 will be very hard at deadline (or anytime) to fill. But I feel like they could fill at last two of these holes at deadline.

Butcher to Bruins made a lot of sense on paper before season (after Krug walked), but Lauzon and Zboril appear to have been playing well. Butcher is probably still an upgrade, but doubt its worth a 1st from their side.

First, Gusev plays left wing (right shot LW...like the opposite of Kuch). And few call him mediocre. Second, Puljujarvi has 0 goals and 2 secondary assists while playing on McDavid's line. I don't think NJD would be trading anything for him at this point.

Agree - Palmieri to NYI would likely be for Bellows and pick or for Wahlstrom. I don't think Bode Wilde gets it done from NJD perspective.

A second-rounder seemed about right to me...but Colorado traded their next two for Toews. But they have plenty of prospects to deal. Beaucage, Barron, Newhook, Annunen, Kaut, etc. So maybe better fit in one-for-one prospect for veteran. And NJD would have to eat salary.

It did not make sense even then. Boston was never bringing in a bottom type D. Zboril and Lauzon were top 50 picks that have been buried behind one of the leagues best left sides for 5 years. It was time for them to play or cut bait. Only way they were bringing in a d man is if it was a legit #1.

They will never use a 1st to move Moore. His buyout cap hit is 833k. Not worth a 1st to save that little.

Edmonton plays left shot on left wing they don’t do offside stuff. You can’t get the puck up the ice playing offside. They do that stuff in Europe but the coach doesn’t do it at all. Puljujarvi is the best forechecker in the league. They won’t trade him because it would be a huge dick move. They spent 18 months building him up and getting his head where it needs to be getting him to trust them. If they just traded him he would be an emotional wreck and he would be no good to you.

Yet there are plenty of European-born players who play on the off-hand and do it well here in NA. Strange that any team would rule it out.

I figured. Zajac's value is around a second round pick + a 3rd round pick = Very Late first round pick.

It’s tippett’s coaching style. He believes when you are in the situation where you need to clear the puck or dump it in you have to get it done or the other team takes it to your net. That’s why he is strict about the handedness.

Gusev isn't mediocre lol. Poolparty needs a chance of scenery and the value of Gusev is a first. So Poolparty + 2nd = Gusev (with extension)

Grz has similar playing style.... Moore's salary isn't that much, and after watching the Devils-Sabres game, I'm not sure that Moore isn't as good.

Grz has similar playing style.... Moore's salary isn't that much, and after watching the Devils-Sabres game, I'm not sure that Moore isn't as good.

    As good as who?

Moore is as good as ....someone who didn't play in that game?

Butcher is NJD's 7th D-man and had been scratched

And no, Moore is not close to Butcher. Remember, we had Moore.

Moore was great for the Devils but agreed Butcher is better. He just doesn't fit the Devils anymore with Smith in the lineup.
