Calgary would replace Bennett with a guy who plays a similar sort of game, albeit not as feisty as Bennett. Compher has some term as well so they can keep him for 3 years.

Why would they want to keep an over paid bottom 6 player and waste protection on him?

This is what I mean about a nothing trade.

Sometimes getting more of the same isn't a bad thing. Some guys do better on a new team with a fresh start.

Some would call that the definition of insanity... because it is.

Virtanen would be a better fit and really even that is just going to be underwhelming for both sides.

Bennet is awful, Bednar just needs to give up the ghost of Compher as a 3C and move him to wing where he is much better.

Would Cgy take a 3rd for him? Try Compher as a wing and if it does workout trade him off for the same 3rd or better

Ya, I wonder if it just was picks what it would take. Considering we don't have a 2nd to offer that's why I suggest a 3rd.
Maybe a 1st with some picks coming back our way. Or is that too much to ask
